1000mW VTX question
#1
Hey everyone not sure if this is the right section to post under, but i have a question 1kmW VTXs. I throw on a TBS unify Pro32 HV 5.8GHz on a Protek 35 platform would I have over heating issues sense the drone doesnt fly that fast. I am flying manly for indoor shoots so I need that high out put of mWs.

" I am flying mainly for indoor shoots so I need that high out put of mWs."

Would have thought that high an output would promote multi-pathing?

If you had thrust to spare above that for flight required you could ensure some propwash over the VTX?

ok so multi pathing is when signals are bouncing off alot of walls and the receiver cant figure out what correct signal is? so more output equals really bad reception and video feed?

The higher power may do more harm than good in closed spaces. The high energy radio waves may bounce off the walls causing interference in a phenomenon known as Multipath propagation or Multipathing (The radio signals reach the receiver by 2 or more paths by bouncing off objects), making it difficult for the VTX to detect.

Some pilots even fly indoors at 25mW without antennas on their goggles as it reduces multi-pathing.
However, this phenomenon can change if you need to fly with several walls or barriers in between you such as in a bando.

Ok great image, that makes alot of sense! So i think ill just stick with my 600w VTX for my indoor flying

For multipathing you need antenna with close to perfect 1.0 axial ratio.

And directional receiver antenna, like helical

I think my multi-path might be broken. It seems like the video signal degrades quickly
to almost nothing when I fly behind something. Just going around my house, the feed
will drop to just fuzz when on the back side. Rise above the house level and video
comes back. The signal is fine as long as I have decent "clear" space.

Guess I just don't have that multi-path stuff.

I generally have the VTX set at either 200 or MAX and a VAS Minion Pro on the quad;
the goggles have a VAS Skyhammer, and a TrueRC patch.
