I recently bought a eachine charger and wanted to know if there was a difference between charging at 0.2 or 0.6A. Is it faster at 0.6? Or what is the main cause of having two different settings?

26-Jul-2020, 03:40 AM I recently bought a eachine charger and wanted to know if there was a difference between charging at 0.2 or 0.6A. Is it faster at 0.6? Or what is the main cause of having two different settings? 0.6A. is faster than 0.2A. It depends on what is the capacity of your lipo. You want to charge at 1C. For example 2000mah or 2ah lipo at 1C is 2A. 600 mah at 1C is 0.6A. You can go lower but you don't want to go higher than 1C. If you charge at 1C, it usually take 1 hour to charge. 26-Jul-2020, 03:48 AM (This post was last modified: 26-Jul-2020, 03:50 AM by Cheeseburger.) I am a bit confused. If 2000mah at 1C is 1A then how is 600mah at 1C 0.6A. Also I’m charging a 1s 450 mah LiPo 26-Jul-2020, 04:09 AM (26-Jul-2020, 03:48 AM)Cheeseburger Wrote: I am a bit confused. I initially used 1000mah as the example but change to 2000mah but forgot to change everything else. I will correct my post. 450mah at 1C should be 0.45A. Although 0.5 is okay to round this off. 26-Jul-2020, 10:54 AM Just charge your 450mAh Lipos using the 0.6A setting. If you were to use the 0.2A setting (which is a charge rate of 0.45C) then you will be waiting for a frustrating 2 hours for your LiPos to charge up. On the 0.6A setting that will be a 1.3C charge which is fine. Here are the maths for the charge rates:- 450mAh = 0.45Ah 0.2A / 0.45Ah = 0.45C 0.6A / 0.45Ah = 1.33C While it is recommended to use a rate of 1C when charging LiPos, some people do charge at 1.5C or 2C if they want the charge process to be quicker. The slight sacrifice you make with a higher charge rate is that your LiPos will have a slightly lesser total lifespan. But these are cheap 1S LiPos anyway and are generally considered "disposable", so if they ended up having a shorter overall life then it wouldn't really bother me too much. 26-Jul-2020, 01:21 PM Ok thanks but I have another question. I read somewhere which states that I shouldn’t charge my batteries if they have too much of a voltage difference. Ex. 1 LiPo is at 3.2v and the other is at 3.8v since when you charge it there is an initial power surge. Is this true? 26-Jul-2020, 01:44 PM (26-Jul-2020, 01:21 PM)Cheeseburger Wrote: I read somewhere which states that I shouldn’t charge my batteries if they have too much of a voltage difference. Ex. 1 LiPo is at 3.2v and the other is at 3.8v since when you charge it there is an initial power surge. Is this true? That rule only applies if you charge all your LiPos on a parallel charging board. The Eachine charger has 6 separate charging circuits for each of the 6 LiPo connectors. They aren't being parallel charged on that charger. So you can connect up 6 LiPos no matter what the difference is with their charge voltage without having to worry. 26-Jul-2020, 02:08 PM Nice, that’s good to hear. Also does the little 8-bit charging number thing say what the battery V is for every LiPo or just the average for all of them? 26-Jul-2020, 02:34 PM The LED display continuously cycles through all of the LiPo voltages including the barrel/XT60 input voltage and also the output voltage for the USB port (so 8 separate voltages in total). It will display the channel number first followed by the voltage on that channel as it cycles through. 26-Jul-2020, 02:52 PM Wow this charger is really cool 11-Mar-2021, 05:50 PM New here, great forum. What charger are we referring to here? A link would be great! 11-Mar-2021, 06:14 PM (This post was last modified: 11-Mar-2021, 06:15 PM by SnowLeopardFPV.)
