ZMR250 build spinning uncontrollably
#1
Title says it all. I cant seem to get my new build to keep a steady hover. It spins quickly in one direction until running into something. Adjusting the yaw trim by one or two points makes it do the same in the other direction. any help would be appreciated please!!!!

Which flight controller are you using?

Have you connected it up to a computer and opened whichever software you are using to check the receiver input to see if you have the correct full range of control over the yaw axis and that it is centering properly?

Naze32 clone, and im using cleanflight. Yes it is centering at ~1500, and i have control from ~1000 to ~2000, which i think is normal right?

Yeah, those are the right numbers.

Really newbie stuff now, sorry.. accelerometers calibrated? Magnetometer, if it has?

Motors in the correct order? 1 at rear right, 2 at front right, 3 at rear left and 4 at front left (with quad in front of you and you looking at the back if it) I made that mistake before and had 3 and 4 swapped, the quad did similar to a yaw spin... more like a pirouette!

Motors turning in the right direction? Right prop direction?

Flight controller orientated correctly? If it is turned have you adjusted it in cleanflight

How about your yaw rate, rc rate, expo and PID numbers?

Sorry for covering the real basics, sometimes it helps prompt a look at something that has been overlooked!!

I somehow have a feeling this might be PID related... might be best if you could reset all your FC settings (do a firmware flash with full chip erase perhaps)

Its ok! Im a beginner myself so its all good. Accelerometer calibrated, orientation right, motors right, right motor/prop direction.
What I dont know is: yaw rate, rc rate, expo, and PID. I can let you know in a couple hours.
I havent calibrated the magnetometer.
Thanks for your help so far.

I did that already. Problem still there. I flashed it with the latest naze32 firmware and had the erase on.

I had a similar issue and changed my props. 3 times I've had 5030 props that were marked 5030r and caused this exact issue.

The only time that happened to me was when I had the wrong prop(s) in the motor

Front left prop(ccw) is marked 5030.
Front right(cw) is marked 5030r
back left(cw) is marked 5030r
back right(ccw) marked 5030.
Problem is ALL of my clockwise spinning props are marked 5030r

PIDs: Roll and pitch are at P-4 I-.03 D-23 I havent adjusted anything yet.
yaw is at P-8.5 I-.045 D-0

I think your motors are spinning the wrong direction...

and the props should be:

5030R    5030
.
5030     5030R

Check and fix that first... (if that's the case you need to reverse the motor spin direction)

Also check if you board is rotated (if the arror is pointint forward) if not you need to give Yaw adjustment in configurator.

It may be a silly question, but are the props upside down?  In the video, it looks like the leading edge is more curved than the trailing edge.  Usually it's the other way around.  If they are on correctly, the markings should be on the top.  (Things still fly with props upside down, just really badly - ask me how I know.....)

Well crap. You're right.
Sorry guys! Please excuse my ignorance. I'll let you know how things go after I re-solder everything.
And thank you very much to everybody!

It's probably to late to say but you can change the motor direction in BLHeli suite
