What is your perfect FC+ESC?
#1
I keep staring at the end of year abyss - and also drawer with 4+ dead boards.

I was always big on 50A+ 30mm stacks.
Then I saw the convenience of AIO 26mm Whoop boards, and haven't looked back.

So what do you guys look for in a board/stack?

I always cry about lack of BB and F7 (its 2020 not 2014).

Ideally in 2021 somebody makes DJI v2 FC+ESC+Airv2 on one board.

It used to be the mamba F405 just because the bang for the buck felt amazing but now that I don't suck as much and crash less I feel I'm looking at more expensive options with F7. I haven't found a new favourite yet but it would be a F7 stack with good bang for the buck and DJI plug so I just have to solder crossfire, motors and pigtail.

racerstar have an inexpensive 50a 4in1 and an f7 with dji plug: 40bucks

At this point, I actually prefer the 26x26 mm whoop AIO boards. They are flexible, low profile, and now powerful.

For me, the JHEMCU brand has just always worked with no problems. The GHF405 board is solid and available in two amp ratings.

If you want an F7 processor, HIFIONRC makes those in a couple of amp ratings. I have not had any issues with performance or ability to handle the quad and they come with Betaflight 4.2.0 {at least the ones that I bought}. The only issue that I have found is that the USB connector is not attached very well and might come off. I used Bondic to secure the USB connector on the second board and have had no further issues. If you get one of these, I suggest securing the USB adapter first thing; just to be safe.

From what I can tell, the iFlight BEAST 55A AIO is the most powerful 26x26 whoop format board and has an H7 processor and mine came with Betaflight 4.3.0. I am putting this single board AIO FC in my BEAST 7 inch build so we will see how this thing handles the 2306 2400kv motors.

I have a slight bias for the JHEMCU brand, but am willing to try others. I am hoping that the HIFIONRC boards and the iFlight BEAST FC prove reliable.

From my perspective, the 26x26 whoop format boards are become somewhat of a universal board. This mounting format will actually fit in just about anything. Not that you would put all boards in all quads, the iFlight BEAST actually does fit on a 85mm {frame size} whoop, toothpick frames, and anything larger. You know, with the larger frames, a small adapter plate can be used if the frame does not have 26x26 mounting holes. In the future, most frames might have a provision for the 26x26 whoop FC boards.

At this point, the JHEMCU boards are my first choice. I will likely use the GHF411 in my future whoop builds since I won't need a GPS on those. The GHF405 board will likely be used in the smaller open prop builds. I will still consider the HIFIONRC boards if they prove reliable for me. I view the iFlight BEAST only viable for quads with large motors, like my 7 inch builds.
