Weird Throttle Chop Issues
#1
Hey all,
Im flying a diatone roma f5 v2 6s.
Having a weird issue on throttle chops. Basically when i chop the throttle the quad pitches forward and to the right.
Ive found info on throttle chop bobbles but this seems to be different because the quad doesnt level out but stays pitched forward.

See video to see what I'm talking about.

I started with the betaflight tune that shipped on the quad

I've increased my PD balance to the point my motors are getting warm on short flights.
I've upped my dynamic idle to 15
tried upping idle percentage but it didn't help so I put it back to 6%
Tried setting thrust_linear to 20 but that didn't help

If you watch the blackbox video it looks like I'm accumulating I on the pitch axis? Is this the issue and if so how do i fix it?

Screenshot of my PIDs for reference.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I've been thinking about my issue a lot more and I think I understand it much better now. Watching the pitch traces in the video I've accumulated a good amount of iterm during the punch. When i chop the throttle iterm goes to zero.

If I understand correctly the iterm going to zero would be what causes the pitch forward (basically going from pitch input to no pitch input)

what i dont understand is why the iterm goes to zero on a chop. I have i term relax and antigravity turned on. During a throttle chop i would expect anti gravity to boost the iterm?

Instead it seems like the iterm is being relaxed which should only happen on quick pitch inputs?

Anyone have any ideas whats going on here?

do you have airmode feature enabled?

antigravity does boost iterm during throttle use, antigravity doesnt anything diring throttle cut.
you need to increase iterm value, not ag value, for higher i on low throttle.

I dont have air mode enabled, ive just been flying in acro. Would this cause the issue I'm having?

Airmode is on by default correct? I have control authority at zero throttle so it must be?

And that makes sense for ag, thanks!

Im still not sure why the iterm on pitch is going to zero when I chop throttle. Is this ag cutting out when throttle goes to zero?

airmode off would cause that, no iterm on zero throttle. airmode is on by default. you could check it in bf configurator in configurations tab

antigravity feature isnt active at zero throttle, iterm should be still active on zerro thr.

could you figure out, is airmode enabled or not?

I don't have a switch assigned to airmode. I will assign one tonight to make sure it is on and see if it makes a difference. thanks!

Airmode does not have to be assigned to a switch.

I have it turned on permanently which you can do via the CLI:

feature AIRMODE
save

Finally got a break from the rain and was able to test! I put airmode on a switch just to test. When i turned it on the issue went away!

I now have it permenantly enabled.

Thanks for the help, didnt know about airmode until now!
