Voron Design
#1
If you are into building your own 3D printers (or have thought about it), you really should check out Voron Design .  (WARNING! - rabbit hole ahead...)

I discovered them about a week ago while resurrecting my own 3D printer (which I designed and built 5 years ago).  I am amazed at the community and ethos that has built up around their designs!

Voron Design is not a company, you can't buy a printer from them.  However, many companies are supplying (partial) kits. And the documentation  (including BOM and sourcing info) is outstanding!  The current line of printers includes (from simple to most complex) Voron0, Voron1, Voron2, and Voron Switchwire.  (If you already have a Prusa or Creality, there is even info on converting those to the Switchwire for minimal cost.)

There are many 3D printed parts to their printers, but don't worry if you don't have a 3D printer already.  There is a community based "Print it Forward" program where you can get the printed parts for cost plus shipping.  There is also a vibrant discord where you can get any help you may need.

I'm hoping my printer can be re-calibrated well enough to print the parts for the Voron Zero.  It's the only one I can afford to build right now.

Here is an overview of the Voron Zero (check out this guys other videos - he's great!):

And here it is in action:

Turns out I didn't build the V Zero.  Instead, I converted my old corexz to the Voron Switchwire (also corexz).  Still have to use it like this to print some parts for the enclosure, but it's operable "as is".

That certainly looks a really beefy / sturdy 3D printer.

It is that!  Bottom extrusions are 30x60. Uprights, cross-braces and top are 30x30.  (The bed and y-axis rails are from my old printer.) Here's the bare frame:

I have a design for a printer in mind using the "C-Beam" extrusions that would have an approx 850x850x850 build volume, but I'm yet to commit the amount of money needed for just the extrusions alone to build it LOL. I also already have printers sitting around my living room because I have nowhere to keep them, I definitely do not have space for this guy... My new house building just started so maybe once my shed goes up it can be the first shed project.

I missed this post until today... I will need an extra 3d printer after I finish remodeling my man-cave. The documentation for this project is fantastic. Thanks for the info!
