I still have one of the VAG cars that was the subject of dieselgate I stopped taking it to a VAG service centre because too many owners were finding out that dealers were secretly flashing the new "fix" software to the ECU without their permission in order to fulfil VAG's pledge that they would address the issue. The "fix" ends up ruining the drivability/reliability of the car and makes the engine run like so mine will never be going anywhere near a main dealer again while I still own the car. It drives nicely with the dieselgate ECU software and that's the way it will be staying. 18-Nov-2020, 06:53 PM I love my Audi TDI pre-fix. After the fix, I lost about 10% in fuel mileage (what is the term in the UK for mileage? kilometrage?). Power is the same. We're an odd bunch over here because we still use imperial measures for some stuff but metric for other stuff LOL. Only US owners got a payout from VAG. The rest of the world got bugger all even if they had the BS "fix" software installed on their ECU's either with or without the owner's permission. And after a "fix" was applied then came the premature EGR valve and DPF failures plus more frequent regens. Screw that for a game of soldiers. My car will therefore never have the "fix" applied as long as I can help it and will remain 'broken" without the risk of any reliability issues or poorer fuel consumption, and that is the way it will stay. 18-Nov-2020, 07:39 PM That is a bum deal. My friend sold back his old VW because they did not have a fix. I guess my next car will either be an electric or a diesel truck. Most of the shots are from a distance so I assume that makes them look more stable than they actually are in reality.
