That is very cool. But VW should have spent that money trying to get diesel back here in America.

That drone swarm is pretty impressive.

I still have one of the VAG cars that was the subject of dieselgate Dodgy I stopped taking it to a VAG service centre because too many owners were finding out that dealers were secretly flashing the new "fix" software to the ECU without their permission in order to fulfil VAG's pledge that they would address the issue. The "fix" ends up ruining the drivability/reliability of the car and makes the engine run like Poop so mine will never be going anywhere near a main dealer again while I still own the car. It drives nicely with the dieselgate ECU software and that's the way it will be staying.

I love my Audi TDI pre-fix. After the fix, I lost about 10% in fuel mileage (what is the term in the UK for mileage? kilometrage?). Power is the same. I could not pass up the money that they were going to give me to fix the car. So I did it.

It's mpg (miles per gallon) the same as you guys in the US refer to it by. We're an odd bunch over here because we still use imperial measures for some stuff but metric for other stuff LOL.

Only US owners got a payout from VAG. The rest of the world got bugger all even if they had the BS "fix" software installed on their ECU's either with or without the owner's permission. And after a "fix" was applied then came the premature EGR valve and DPF failures plus more frequent regens. Screw that for a game of soldiers. My car will therefore never have the "fix" applied as long as I can help it and will remain 'broken" without the risk of any reliability issues or poorer fuel consumption, and that is the way it will stay.

That is a bum deal. My friend sold back his old VW because they did not have a fix.

I guess my next car will either be an electric or a diesel truck. Americans like their big 1/2 ton trucks.

Hi, does anyone know how this works? I mean the swarm, not VW engines  Big Grin

How do they hold position like that? I assume they all talk to a central unit (land) to transfer/receive data

Also I guess they have different leds to switch colors so they need a big battery for sure

No wind? how many units?

Interesting...

I was scratching my head too. How it hold up the line soo straight? no drifting at all.

Sorry, went off topic a bit.

Most of the shots are from a distance so I assume that makes them look more stable than they actually are in reality. That coupled with the lighting probably helps to create the illusion that they are all perfectly still in the air.

This is an interesting article...

Quote:Outdoors, wind is a wild card. One way to compensate is to use bigger, more powerful drones because they're less likely to get blown around. Another is to adjust the spacing between drones to limit the possibility that they'll crash into each other. That's also an example of how drone spacing is like a display's pixel count when it comes to image resolution.

“The distance between each drone is 1.5 m to 3 m," Zhiyuan says.

Geofencing corrals the drones into a safe space, away from spectators, players, musicians and other people, as well as physical obstructions.

“We implement a geofence that will force the drones to land immediately if they get out of the fence," says Dronisos' Duvivier.

Drones also can be designed with features to protect people if those safeguards aren't enough. For example, some of Verity's are Lucie micro drones, which weigh only 50 grams and have a guard around their propellers.

“Once people see the size and weight of our Lucie drones, they can see that they are unlikely to pose a safety concern and we are allowed to fly in venues close to and above people without nets," D'Andrea says.

vw did more worse mistakes to their costumers than their bad diesel. as example they cheated their customers terribal by chain tensioner issue, vw is faraway by other companys quality; japanese or korean brands. vw need marketing as there is no quality or value for money behind.

the marketing does work, i like to get such drones :-)

Interesting. 50 gram quads.... the ones in the top row run out of battery before show starts. Smile ...
I'd love to see the logistics of storing and charging 500 - 1000 quads (will they storage charge them after the show?  Big Grin )
