Components laid out in one pic. The other shows a PermaGrit #RF9UF countersink bit in my Dremel tool. This allowed me to get the 2mm flathead screws flush with the top plate under the battery pad. That is a very handy tool.

The GOKU FC is mounted on 2mm bolts 20x20. The frame also has holes for a 25.5x25.5 mount. I used socket head bolts with nylock nuts against the frame and again to hold the FC in place.

One pic shows the Radiomaster ELRS RP3 Rx stuck to the frame with double sided tape. The antenna connections conveniently fit down into one of the frames lightening cutouts. I added 2mm nuts above the nylock nuts to get clearance between the Rx and FC. The other pic shows the FC bolted down.

One pic shows the top plate test fit. Unfortunately the antenna mount is too small in diameter for the Walksnail antenna to fit inside it. Also the Walksnail antenna stalk is too stiff to back all the way in anyway. I'll put a grommet or something in there to hold it steady and centered. The other pic shows the battery lead and capacitor placement. The battery leads will be zip tied to the antenna mount to keep them out of harms way (props).

The bottom, not very exciting. There are TPU prints for the arm protectors but I'm not sure if I'll use them. Gotta weigh it first. The view from the side explains a lot. The FC is raised enough to allow the Rx to be mounted under it. The FC uses 20x20 mounting. The VTX uses 25.5x25.5 mounting holes in the top plate and is lowered enough to allow the battery strap through between it and the CF top plate. Due to the different mounting hole dimensions there is clearance between the FC's nylock nuts and the VTX's, 1-2mm is not much but it fits

After the test hop. Battery is a 4s 850. Still need to weigh it... The first test hop with default BF 4.4.3 settings it spun (yaw) on takeoff. I thought it might be the tune so I loaded the SupaflyFPV 3/4" Freestyle tune which I have in two other quads. When that spun as well I went through my BF settings step by step and found I had not changed the motor direction in the motors tab to make the diagram reflect the actual condition. I did not think that was important actually. I thought it was just to change the diagram. But after doing that the quad flew fine for a short test hop. Very smooth and quiet, also very stable and locked in. I won't get to fly it until the weekend but it's good to know it flies.

There is a combination you don't hear much: skiing after flight!    

No fly day, rain. The quad weighs 142.5g plus a Tattu R-Line 4s 850 at 97.5 is 240g all up, whew, I was really sweating that final total, LOL. I don't know if that battery is overkill for a quad this size and weight, it's what I fly on my old 3" quads which are much heavier. Is a 4s 850 about right or do you prefer something smaller? Can't help but notice that the GNB HV 850 is about 10g lighter with an XT30 plug. The XT60 looks big on this quad.

Edit: JB answered my question in a video (of course) and I think I will switch to XT30's after I fly it. Plenty of batteries sized right for this quad come with XT30"s.

Second Edit: Changed to XT30 connector weight is now 139.7g

Ha, there is a very short list (...probably...) of questions that JB has not ever answered! I like XT30s too but Ima corner case coz that's my preference for even 1S 2.5-3" TPs and such too. Spose that wouldn't pass the "nano weight baron" specs but who cares.

You could try larger say, 1100-1600mah 3S lipos for more of a cruizy type flight as well.

The AUW is a bit bigger for 3.5 inches, but the battery capacity and the weight of the quad are quite good, it will fly well, not ultimate, but well ... the flight time of freestyle acrobatics will be over 5 minutes.

I wouldn't consider any propellers other than the HQprop T3.5x3x2 or T3.5x3x2.5 on the 3.5 inch. Try it, you'll see...

Nicer day today so I got a few flights in I could not be happier, well slightly happier but there's always tradeoffs. The quad flies like it's on rails, crazy smooth and locked in but it can roll and flip as fast as anything I own. it has the float of my 5" quads almost as punchy and but doesn't give you that feeling of endless acceleration, I mean it moves out initially but plateaus quicker. Tradeoff is it climbs really fast at less than full throttle and takes its time coming back down, which I like. It definitely flies great for a lightweight. I flew it with the Gemfan 3.5x2x3 props. I'll try my HQprop T3.5x2.5x3 next outing. I was moderately aggressive and got a couple of barely 4 minute flights, one with 5% battery left the other 15%, both less than 3.7 after flight and seeing 3.6 in my goggles. So I don't care to try a smaller battery than 4s 850 mAh. But a big 3s might be nice for wandering around. I guess the F7 processor is a good thing! And nice smooth motors. And a well designed frame. And Walksnail on a pretty day!
