Trouble with the gyro in my 5"
#1
Hi!
My drone stopped calibrating the gyro out of nowhere, I didn't crash it and I found out that sometimes, if I wait without touching it for about 1 to 5 minutes it just calibrates, I have no gps so it isn't trying to find satellites or anything like that, does someone know if it's in its final days or it might be something else?
Thanks

Have you connected to betaflight configurator and checked the gyro there, initialised it, etc? I think there is a joshua bardwell video on checking the health of the gyro.

Only 3 things I know affecting gyro.
1. Bad 3.3V. Voltage regulator dying or caps broke off from board.
2. Really bad luck. Broken.
3. ??

Yeah it is a bit noisy but I found out that it only works when the battery hits 16.0 V if it is higher than that it keeps calibrating until it gets to that voltage, it's really wierd and I've never seen anything like that

What FC are we talking about here?

Some manufacturers are notorious for using sub-standard components.

Some mfcr are much worse than others with QA.
FrSky - I'm looking at you - I had oscillators and capacitors peel off with double-sided tape from the receiver.

Sometimes tiny SMD parts are just barely hanging on. Sometimes, you accidentally lightly chip a capacitor, and with bad luck its broken. Or even just the flexing of the board in flight or heat from soldering.

I started this hobby with 2 buckets. 100% working parts. And 1-2 broken/DOA parts.
But, after years, now there is a quickly growing 3rd bucket...

"Works most of the time, but glitches out or something.. I dunno.. do I wanna risk it?"

about noise, a capacitator should be checked/replaced or additional capacitance added. i would try that first, the relationship with 16v sounds like it could help.
