I am a big fan of my Pitstop (normal not pro) backpack and even use it for some storage. But I wanted a smaller bag to carry on quick trips. Specifically I just needed something to carry 1 drone, radio, goggles, lipos, a set of props, and a few tools. This Torvol Freestyle Bag caters to this specifically ... What put me off was that there was no nylon webbing to secure the top side of the outside "quad strap" which is heavily advertised on product pages and their own promo videos. Although it wasn't clear, I suspected the strap itself would not be included. But at least make sure that there is proper nylon webbing to secure the strap! What is even more annoying is that other review videos seem to show this nylon webbing there ... And on mine ... There is however nylon webbing at the bottom ... (?!?!) Of course this is just annoyance especially given the FPV type that will DIY anything and everything. So out comes the sewing kit ... It's just that for this type of a premium product, I sure as f*ck don't expect to be pulling out a goddamn sewing kit. Really lame move, Torvol. It's too bad because otherwise, like with the Pit stop, this is a quality bag. Just know you'll need to get Martha Stewart on it if you plan to actually make use of it. Wouldn't be the first time lol. I'd already sent Torvol an email and also a link to this thread. In my own experience, if your eff up posted in public doesn't get you to move, pretty much nothing will. Also, I'm hesitant to get with PyroDrone where I got this because Serge (owner) called me on my cell phone directly about that T-Motor F7 current reading debacle LOLOL. It got back to him from T-Motor I guess that I had purchased it through them. He went out of his way to make me whole on that so long as I (and he used more diplomatic words but basically ...) dropped it LOL. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 Quote:Dear Robert, We are very sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with our products. The model you bought is the previous version of the model you are referring to in the video. This new version comes with an additional strap and a loop already installed. Could you please give us your address so that we can send you the missing strap and loop as soon as possible? It looks like they had a load of stock of the old version gathering dust that they needed to sell. Manufacturers are always improving their products so it's just luck of the draw or bad timing I guess. The Tango 2 as a prime example. There have now been 3 revisions of the main board within the space of 6 months. Imagine if you'd bought the first revision and then upgraded the the V2 board after it came out. You would still be one mainboard version behind. Unless you buy direct from the manufacturer themselves there is always a chance you won't get the latest version of their products. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 19-Oct-2020, 06:03 PM (This post was last modified: 19-Oct-2020, 06:04 PM by the.ronin.) Yea I've come to realize that after all these defective FCs, defective ESCs, and now this "outdated" bag ... its just par for the course in this industry. I'd raise hell with PyroDrone but like I said before they refunded me that entire T-Motor F7 stack while letting me keep it to get me to shut up about the broken current sensor lol (and I still fly it fine). So that basically paid for this and then some. This is why I say I've long since lost any allegiance to any retailer. It's all hugs and giggles on social media but at the end of the day, they need to make money off you. Fine ... I'll take every penny I can squeeze out them in return. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 30-Oct-2020, 02:44 AM (This post was last modified: 30-Oct-2020, 02:45 AM by the.ronin.) Just wanted to check on this this guys. This bag friggin rocks. For quick trips, there is no comparison. Light years ahead of the grocery bag I used before lol. It might seem small but it does hold a full sized radio, goggles (mine has a Powerplay on it and 2x stubbies to give you an idea), 4 lipos, basic tools, and of course a quad (I'd say up to 7 inch but the blades may start poking your leg lol). If you want a "quick action" FPV bug out bag, this is it. Just the thing with the strap is super annoying. Maybe get one along with it and be prepared to sew on a nylon strip or contact Torvol as soon as you have a receipt and copy and paste my complaint above lol. They'll hopefully send you a free new quad strap + nylon strap like they did me. • Posts: 21,330 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 It would be great to have a bit more of a lightweight bag but I can't strap my quad to the outside so something this small is unfortunately of good to me. Torvol are currently working on some new bags so it will be interesting to see what they come out with. It would be nice if they produce some kind of "middle ground" bag that is bigger than this but smaller than the full size backpacks. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 I'll let them know. They seem to be concerned about what their customers think ... which is quite odd in this industry lol. They actually emailed me back to make sure I got the replacement strap. And what the heck size x class you flyin over there mister leopard??? • Posts: 21,330 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 (30-Oct-2020, 08:45 PM)the.ronin Wrote: And what the heck size x class you flyin over there mister leopard??? Only a 5" but it needs to go inside the bag out of view It's also slightly annoying that I have to take the props off to fit my quad inside the Pitstop. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 30-Oct-2020, 10:01 PM (This post was last modified: 30-Oct-2020, 10:01 PM by the.ronin.) Oh that's right I remember you mentioning the need to be as low profile as possible. Yea I don't do the props off thing either. Just responded to their email hopefully they'll check this thread. • Posts: 168 Threads: 6 Likes Received: 36 in 34 posts Likes Given: 16 Joined: Mar 2020 Reputation: 6 I recently found a bag which is very similar to Torvol Freestyle Bag. You can check the bag from https://www.lowepro.com/global/quadguard...37012-pww/. It looks so compact and price is really good for what it offers. Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 I'd actually looked at that quite a bit before going with the Freestyle. It is definitely a good alternative. I forgot why exactly I opted for Torvol maybe it was the size of this LowerPro or the fact it's two pieces. But either way, does this guy not look like the left side caption of a "What FPV Pilots Think They Look Like" meme LOL Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 12-Jul-2021, 06:59 PM (This post was last modified: 12-Jul-2021, 06:59 PM by the.ronin.) Quick update on this bag. It has easily become my go to bag for quick park trips, so it has seen a LOT of use. But now the zippers in the upper corners have broken off the fabric. At first it was just one corner but now it's both. I still plan to use it but this bag is def on its last legs. Just a heads up to be careful zipping and unzipping around those corners they are not as durable as I thought. • Posts: 771 Threads: 5 Likes Received: 443 in 325 posts Likes Given: 209 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 14 I picked up this bag for $40 from Amain a few months ago. It was like the OP one that didn't have the strap going down from the handle. Wasn't a big deal since the two on the side are able to hold onto a 5" quad no problem. Also able to score some TBS stuff there when nobody had it in stock. They're mostly a surface RC reseller, think there is some correlation to Hobbytown as well, their websites are nearly identical. |
