I agree with you for the most part. But I think a smoke stopper should be included somewhere.

Battery charger is a must, but I don't consider it a tool, but more of a drone accessory. Some drones even come with one.
Smoke stopper, but again, I don't really consider this a tool, but rather an accessory since you don't actually "build" with it.

1. Soldering iron, but it doesn't need to be expensive; mine is a $ 15 dollar US AMAZON special with the wheel taped at 425 C degrees.
2. Metric Allen wrench tools with handles; what ever brand or name you want doesn't matter.
3. Small, normally closed tweezers with long tips. These are great...indispensable for me.
4. Xacto Knife. Must have.
5. Heat gun. {although truth is a match will work if you have to}.

Plus...

Small side cutters.
Needle nosed pliers.
Punch or Awl.
Small hand drill with 2mm bit.
Deep socket nut driver with handle {pliers will work if you don't have one}.

Tweezers
Multimeter
Electric screwdriver
GOOD soldering equipment. Iron is probably the least important part except for a proper tip.
8mm ratchet wrench/socket for props.

Not in any specific order, but i would be really sad if i had to give any of these up, the rest of my tools i can probably do without, or consider "obvious", i.e. pliers, hex keys/drivers etc.

Reverse tweezers! Just amazing, should have got some years ago. Hold wires effortlessly and the bonus of not burning your fingers!

H Kevin,

Yeah, that is item #3 in my list; normally closed {reverse} tweezers...indispensable...love them  Heart  For me, they work much better than normal tweezers. In fact, I have 2 90 degree angle ones, a 45 degree angle one, and a straight {really straight} one. The straight on is great for starting M2 nuts {which I can barely hold with my fingers}.

The top 5 is a very short list. My list of tools far exceeds that. Plus, there are a lot of little things that are not really tools, but help in the process; such as the blue "tak" putty...the best thing I have found for holding wire and boards while soldering them...MUCH Better than "helping hands", clips, clamps, or anything else.

I also keep an assortment of glues and adhesives. Everything from House Hold DUCO cement, to 2 part epoxies, to UV cured BONDIC {this is GREAT stuff, I use it all the time}.

When soldering, that "brillo" {wire hair} thing is great, but I also use a wet paper towel to clean the iron tip. Then there is the fan to pull fumes and smoke away.

Another thing that I wouldn't call a tool, but very helpful, is a small metal stand to hold the monitor from my Viper goggles to use on the bench when checking the video feed.

So...the top 5 only get you started...the REAL list is much longer... Tongue
