Toolbox/Case Recommendations?
#1
I'm still pretty new at this hobby but over the past few months I've collected various tools, hardware, materials, etc.  I've gotten to the point where I'd like to get things better organized and I'm looking for suggestions on a good toolbox of sorts.  It would be really nice to have something that I can carry my essential tools and stuff to the field with me but I'd also like to have things well organized on the bench too.  So maybe it's two or even three boxes/cases?  Something for just the bare essentials to take to the field and maybe something else to organize hardware or whatever else?   I'd love to see what others are using so please share!

I bought one of these Stanley Fatmax FMST1-73607 Fatmax Dual Access Bag, 43 x 28 x 30 cm for my Electricians tool kit, I liked it so much I have bought another, thinking like you, that I could use it for my FPV related kit.   Cool

Something like this for a portable tool kit but maybe not this exact one... the elastic straps are very tight and you might feel compelled to remove the Bahco branding.

As per Voodoo, I just have dedicated pockets in my backpack with all of my required tools in. I don't do in-field repairs so I take the minimal tools I think I can get away with. Hex drivers & screwdrivers, a couple of spanners, wire cutters, pliers, tweezers, electrical tape, and a bit of spare hardware but that is all. Plus spare antennas and other spare parts that are easily replaceable in the field without too much effort. I never take stuff like soldering irons or multimeters. If it gets that bad I will just pack up, come home, and do any repairs in the comfort and warmth of my workbench area.

If you already have the tools, RDQ sells a little folding case like the one in post #3. It is a great bargain at only $5.00!

It's not a tool case but it works good for me. From the bench to the truck and back again pretty easy. And it was free!

If you want tool table organizer, Integy makes some very nice ones. I have a few. And they are not terribly expensive. You should also check out they tool poaches and bag. They are RC hobby focus.

Thanks guys, all good ideas. I really like the design of the Bahco, but if I can get just the essential tools into a backpack that's probably the direction I'll go.

After reading through the thread on backpacks I'm leaning towards the Torvol standard pack (https://torvol.com/product/fpv-quad-pitstop-backpack) as it seems to be about the right size for my needs. Unless there is a compelling reason to go for the Pro version? Only thing holding me back is Mrs. Claus. She's been asking me to give her a wish list so I'll be waiting until after the holiday before buying anything.

Voodoo, any chance you have the name or a link to one of the Integy table organizers? I started going through their web page but the catalog is huge and I'm not really sure what to call the organizers in an effort to search for them.

These are the three I have. Of course they come in all kinds of color combinations, I just link one. They are well made. Well finished aluminum. They are stable enough to holds some tall items without falling over. The plastic organizer I had before kept on tipping over.

Can you spot the organizers on my old bench?

Ha! I'm loving your old bench Voodoo. It's not too far off my current bench! And I am liking the looks of that gold/black organizer. I think I'm going to add it to my "wish list" the wifey is poking me for.

Here the zip-style case with some tools:

Maybe chucking everything in together would be better:
