Xjet's suggestion is awesome in its simplicity ... =<400 drones, >=1000 commercial. I particularly like how he turned the tables on making exceptions for pilots ... he called them airports LOL.
Thoughts on the proposed FAA drone ID law |

They have good ideas and not so good ideas. It's a long video, but likely worth the watch as you may find something of use for your letter. 25-Jan-2020, 10:00 PM All I see are hobbyists choking on dildos. Bruce (xjet) is one of the very few in the hobby i have respect for anymore. 26-Jan-2020, 05:30 PM (25-Jan-2020, 02:43 PM)Krohsis Wrote: The Flite Test guys weigh in with ideas and suggestions for your FAA comment letter. Well, watched half of it so far, and the biggest takeaway is the fact that the FAA is completely ignorant of our community which makes sense. Its clear that all they are thinking about is the commercial side of this technology which is amazing to me because the commercial side was born from the hobbyist side. The people who supposedly have a seat at the table for us and are supposed to be defending our hobby are not getting through to the people that are writing these rules, completely aggravating. What is the deal, are these people walled up somewhere with now way to access them directly? 04-Feb-2020, 08:48 PM This is the quote by one of the commenters on the FAA comment page. This is the attitude of MANY of those in the AMA and those who don't fly anything other than classic RC aircraft. So, as you can see, we as FPVers are really alone in this fight. And this is why we likely will fail. Even those who should be coming together with us, are kicking us in front of the bus. My original letter made a separate appeal for the classic RC aviation community. But now, I'm reconsidering that prior to submitting my letter. This comment pisses me off more than the FAA. There are many comments with the same message as mentioned in the last sentence of the below comment. Emphasis is added by me. From Robert Groves, Indiana, Overall, I believe the FAA is mistaken about including model aircraft with drones. President Trump wants the agencies to be realistic about setting regulations, this whole issue is beyond the pale of bureaucratic meddling in a mere hobby that has shown for decades a dedication to safety. My pathway to full scale, commercial flying was started with model aviation, as with thousands of other commercial and military pilots. This ID idea is crazy and should not be seriously considered for the average model airplane enthusiast. You will be driving this great hobby to extinction. "Do what you want with drones, they are the devil not model aircraft as governed by the AMA". 05-Feb-2020, 02:54 AM Yikes! I sympathize with the fixed wing model aircraft folks, but seriously, that is going a bit too far there. Like listening to 80s and 90s music? Perhaps you will like my FPV Channel. Concerned about regulations? Join the FPV Freedom Coalition. 05-Feb-2020, 03:01 AM (04-Feb-2020, 08:48 PM)Krohsis Wrote: This is the quote by one of the commenters on the FAA comment page. While this guy is clearly and AHole, I believe the FAA wouldn't even take his entire comment into consideration as he made it personal by calling drones the devil. I Hope that the FAA will attempt to only include comments that are from people who are being level and giving fair justification. |
