Telemetry Lost & Connected
#1
Hi,

I was testing out my FPV drone after being out of play for a couple of months in a nearby field (my usual go to) where I havent been in a while.

And I kept getting "receiver lost" and "receiver connected" after flying 200m away from myself but it was infrequent and random. I wondered if it was a hardware issue until I realised they had installed a freakin 5G tower nearby. Could this be what is interrupting it? I'm running a crossfire receiver.

What's everyone's experience flying next to a 5G tower Big Grin? I've seen FPV drones fly close to 5G together and losing control...

So...I'm planning to take my FPV drone to the beach and I want to try avoid going for a swim if you know what I mean. The only thing I can think of now is finding another field to test my drone with no 5G tower is sight before I travel with it.

Thanks
Romeo

Yes, it's quite possible that the cell tower caused your issues. The telemetry amplifier onboard the standard (non-Pro) Crossfire Nano RX only outputs 20-30mW compared to your transmitter which is likely outputting upwards of 250mW, so telemetry data transmission is much weaker than the RC link transmission. Therefore, just because you lose telemetry data doesn't mean you will lose the RC link. That said, if you are flying near or over water I strongly recommend that you install a GPS module so in the event of a failsafe your quad will gain some altitude and fly back to you rather than just dropping into the salt water.
