Just trying to get my head around everything I've read about this FC. I intend to connect receiver, cam, vtx and gps. That's the 4 uarts used up and leaves Serial_RX4 as the spare half uart on A01.

I´d like to use telemetry via S Port. 

So my thinking is that I can use any of the spare motor pads, 5-8. (I fancy M7 but only because it´s address is B00 ) and create a soft serial. The same for the LED_STRIP 1 C08.

Can I convert A01 to Serial_TX4?

What about the TLM pad next to motor pad M8. Is that just ESC telemetry?

Is there a best option from these or one that I have missed?

Finally, what is PINIO 1 C09 attached to?

Most likely for ESC Telemetry. RX4

Instead of using SBUS/S. PORT. Just use F. Port and have RC control and Telemetry on one wire.

Buying an F Port enabled receiver is a good idea. In the short term I'll use M7 with soft serial.

So you can convert any spare motor, Led_strip or the TLM (RX4) into softserial. One is not necessary better than the other. You pick one you like.

As for PINIO, you can think of it as a virtual relay. For example, you can setup a PINIO to turn off VTX pit mode or turn off Bluetooth module when arm. There are tons of things you can do, but most of us don't really need to use it. But, if you want to learn more.
