Screech-R Lightweight 4s, High kv, 6” Screamer
#1
I tried this last year here as a budget build with a 20x20 stack but kept burning up the ESC with the high current draw of the weaker DYS motors. With a bulletproof ESC the motors should be the weak point then. Better motors purchased in anticipation of this and proven on the 4th pack Wink (read below)

So go big, or go home! Well I wasn’t going home! Tongue
[Image: elyp6Hyl.jpg]

The Bits:
Frame-  Strix Screech-R (v1)

FC-       T-Motor F7
ESC-     T-Motor F55A ProII F3
Motors- DYS Shu 2306 2800kv (BURNT)
            T-Motor BMS Racing Raptor 2207.5 2700kv
Rx-       FrSky XM+
Cam-    Foxeer Razer Micro
VTx-     Eachine VTX03
Ant.-     O.R.T MicroVee

Stack seems huge compared to the tiny 20x20 I was used to seeing in this frame lol

I was never a fan of the original TPU cam mounts that came with the frame so I designed and printed my own for a better fit.

I have also had these RaceLiteWires laying around so I decided against going as ultralight as possible and designed a TPU mount for those as well. If you can’t look cool, it’s not worth doing! ROFL

Everything coming together.

Why not have LEDs on the bottom too Wink

I have now added NOS to all my quads ROFL

Designed a mount to secure the power wires with a zip-tie

She flew amazing until the forth pack. I decided to push it with several high speed passes and one of the DYS motors failed. Slinging solder everywhere! Cool

Even on the standoff

Here’s the LOS footage when the motor failed. Love the sound it makes too!

I will add some DVR footage as well when I get around to uploading it Wink

New BMS motors are installed and waiting to be tested.

Coming soon! Stay tuned!

I have both 1300 and 1500mah. We will see how the 1300mah packs sag, but so far I have only used the 1500mah.

awesome! thanks for share
nice performance, current draw looks pretty low for the speed and performence. probably the t-motors will be even more efficiency? and powerfull?
Undecided i like to try a lightweight 6inch xD

Yes much more efficient so far but I haven’t tested them very much yet and haven’t really pushed them hard either.

I updated the FC to BF 4.1 as well. My base tune didn’t seem too fond of the 6” props but felt great on 5”. So I need a day to get out and play with the 4.1 filter settings and get the 6” props locked in better.

+1 from me on doing a lightweight 6” Big Grin I am loving it so far and haven’t even really had much time with it in the air Big Grin

It took a little while to figure out my filter setup as the harmonics are quite a bit different from most typical 5” builds. But once I got them all sorted and figured some things out in Betaflight 4.1 she has been performing great.

Here is the first full flight after setting the filters.

She gets pretty well tuned in during the session after this. Video coming soon!!! Big Grin

Nice looking build. What is NOS  (in cars, NOS is Nitrous Oxide injected with the fuel), but these quads are electric. Huh

Please explain what you have here? Thanks.

It's a sticker he's added to the low-ESR capacitor on his battery leads.

The poser ;-)

ROFL yeah it’s a fun sticker to add to your capacitors.
I put NOS bottles on all of my fleet as I am a motor-head at heart.
I put a can of Redbull on my fly buddies quad. As he is always pushing the envelope Wink
There are several types to choose from at RDQ.

Thanks, very interesting. Thumbs Up
Yeah, I was a gear head back in the day...when speeding was just speeding and street racing was popular and wouldn't necessarily land you in jail. Cry I am much more relaxed now that I am old and retired; but still like a good muscle car or street rod. The new craze is "rat rods", but too old to get into that.

Yeah same here. I am a lot more chill now days than when I was younger. I’ll still get out and ride/drive the Poop out some motor toys here and there but they aren’t mine Wink
My hot rod is a 1/10 scale 100+ mph RC truck. 1/10th the size and 1/10th the price ROFL
