Yeah, MakerBot have ruined Thingiverse with the implementation of the new interface which likely also includes API and back-end changes which will be the cause of the really poor performance. Everyone is complaining and some contributors have even posted on their makers pages that they have abandoned Thingiverse completely and won't be back until they sort out the issue, which is a real shame. It's been like this for a good few weeks with no sign of improvement so far. I really do hope they have some devs actively working on the issue otherwise there is likely to be a mass exodus. 06-Apr-2020, 06:27 PM 06-Apr-2020, 10:06 PM (06-Apr-2020, 06:27 PM)voodoo614 Wrote: That is weird. One thing that I have noticed that weirdly helps. When the page seems to take forever to load, try hitting refresh or go back a page and re-click page you are trying to load. For some reason it will seem to load right up then. 06-Apr-2020, 11:37 PM (06-Apr-2020, 06:27 PM)voodoo614 Wrote: That is weird. Although slow, it is does not take forever to load. A few seconds. Dude, my internet connection is literally a third world one. I have a Plan of 30Mbps/second, when it works i feel like i am the king of th world, but now with the quarentine, it's really, really slow. My ISP says that it's due many people doing nothing more than watching videos and memes at their houses, and i say that i pay a lot of money for this service (45 USD, with the higher exchange rate we have in ages) and yet i'm not getting what they claim and charges to me. I just tried to use Speedtest.net to give you a glance of my pain and suffering and this is what i got: A few seconds after, i ran again the web site and this is what i got. Is not so fancy, hu? I've being in USA before and i never felt so ashame of the internet speed that we have down here, no wonder why some countries can move forward faster while we still struggling. Sorry for the rant, it's just that this topic reallly, really bugs me everythime i remember it. (not your fault, mate) 07-Apr-2020, 04:01 AM 18 mbps isn't that bad. It isn't that much better here. My ISP says 75mpbs, but for the most part I hover around 30mpbs. 07-Apr-2020, 10:04 AM (This post was last modified: 07-Apr-2020, 10:11 AM by SnowLeopardFPV.) While 20Mbps isn't great, I think it's "acceptable". I see a lot of people in the UK struggling to get much more than that if they are out in the suburbs unless they are on a direct FTTP (fibre-to-the-premises) connection. I'm on FTTC (fibre-to-the-cabinet) which is fibre optic cable to a cabinet in a nearby street and from there it piggy backs onto the existing copper phone wires from the cabinet to my house which for me is a distance of about 250 metres over copper wire. I pay for an "up to" 76Mbps connection and I seem to get a pretty consistent speed of around ~72Mbps download and ~19Mbps upload whenever I run a test. People in the UK who are on FTTP are getting upwards of 100-200Mbps. I guess some of you were't around back in the mid 90's when we were all having to share our analogue telephone lines with an internet connection and dial up to our ISPs using 28.8K modems, and then later 56K modems I still have a working 3Com US Robotics 56K Voice Faxmodem at the back of my cupboard which brings back some great memories (although not of the dial-up speed obviously). It was a top bit of kit for its time. 07-Apr-2020, 11:00 AM Yeah I feel sorry for all of you, I have FTTP (Fiber to the premises). I have 100Mbps down and 40Mbps up, but that's limited by my ISP's plan, I've never done a speedtest and got less than 96/37 so it's really consistent. My connection is able to handle 1Gbps, but unfortunately that's out of my price range for now... |
