I'm looking for something just to cruise around with for an extended duration on regular LiPo's using the efficiency of larger props rather than acro/long range/heavy lift. the iFlight DC10 or XL10 look possible, but I'm not really familiar with iFlight. ideally if someone knows of anyone making extended arms for the TBS Source One as I have a few of them in 5"/7" already. • Posts: 6,113 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,287 in 1,834 posts Likes Given: 4,737 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 • Posts: 16 Threads: 3 Likes Received: 2 in 2 posts Likes Given: 4 Joined: Jul 2020 Reputation: 0 (05-May-2021, 03:03 AM)hugnosed_bat Wrote: https://www.project399.com/products/supe...al-edition thanks, but it doesn't really grab me. arms too thick & too expensive, especially after shipping to the UK. • Posts: 6,113 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,287 in 1,834 posts Likes Given: 4,737 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 05-May-2021, 01:39 PM (This post was last modified: 05-May-2021, 01:40 PM by hugnosed_bat.) 5mm carbon for a 5inch, 10mm for a 10" :-) it matches the the weight and needed stiffness in my eyes. thinner might work well on some wider arms, i believe 10mm matches the wideness of the arm well. the 10mm might be nice to carry some huge 2810 motors or this direction. i can understand, its very expensive but seems to me its the price direction on a nice 10" frame: my reason not to build one • Posts: 21,330 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 There aren't many options for a 10" frame unfortunately. Most people seem to be using 7" frames for long range these days. The FR10 frames used to be a good option but it looks like they might now be discontinued which is unfortunate. You can see how the FR10-G version of that frame looks HERE. If you like the design you could try and get someone to cut the carbon for you. The DXF files are all on Thingiverse at the links below. The normal version requires lots of 3D printed parts and puts the FPV camera above the HD camera, while the "G" version puts the FPV camera inside the frame and the HD camera on top with less 3D printed parts being required. My SlimNasty already took some beating with no issues https://shop.sculptcopter.com/frames/ Also there is a source 10 design. Maybe you have a look at the macro quad group in FB • Posts: 16 Threads: 3 Likes Received: 2 in 2 posts Likes Given: 4 Joined: Jul 2020 Reputation: 0 many thanks, the Hildagard 395 looks more like what I'm after. • Posts: 3,533 Threads: 265 Likes Received: 2,610 in 1,545 posts Likes Given: 3,893 Joined: Feb 2018 Reputation: 78 (06-May-2021, 03:32 PM)badger Wrote: many thanks, the Hildagard 395 looks more like what I'm after. I have the sister quad, the Nasty 396. The Nasty has a collision problem with top mounted batteries and 10 inch blades. The two frames are very similar, and this is why Stephen increased the wheelbase on the Nasty. Also you will have motors and props in view of the HD cam, if that is important to you. With all its warts, I do love my Nasty. • Posts: 169 Threads: 31 Likes Received: 8 in 8 posts Likes Given: 37 Joined: Apr 2023 Reputation: 0 (05-May-2021, 01:39 PM)hugnosed_bat Wrote: 5mm carbon for a 5inch, 10mm for a 10" :-) it matches the the weight and needed stiffness in my eyes. thinner might work well on some wider arms, i believe 10mm matches the wideness of the arm well. the 10mm might be nice to carry some huge 2810 motors or this direction. i can understand, its very expensive but seems to me its the price direction on a nice 10" frame: my reason not to build one PERFECT Suggestion from my 7'+ perspective.... • |
