I bought a QX7s when they first came out. I have been using it with no problems since then with both D8 and D16 receivers. A while ago, I wanted to use an MLVSS voltage sensor which requires sound. I could not find a sound pack for the original 2.2.0 OpenTx firmware, so I upgraded from 2.2.0 to 2.3.14. I upgraded the bootloader and Open Tx, but not the internal XJT module. I backed up and restored all my models and everything was fine, until I tried to fly a quad that had a D8 receiver. It appeared to be unbound. Led flashing. I tried to bind with no luck. QX7 set to internal module, D8 mode, enter bind mode, QX7 chirping, hold bind button on receiver and power up. Led would flash briefly, and then go out. No bind. I put the transmitter in another room, and now the led stays on solid for about 5 seconds, I powered down while the led was solid and it appeared to bind, and everything worked normal, so I thought I was good with this one. I checked three other D8 receivers. One worked, two appeared unbound. Two were cheap 4 channel airplane receivers I got from Banggood, The other was a D8R-IIplus. So I kept trying to get the D8R and the 4channel receiver that did not work to bind. I finally got the D8R working but not the 4 channel. I put the D8R into a foamy that had the 4 channel rec that absolutely refused to bind. I brought all of them to the flying field the next day. The quad and the foamy both appeared to be unbound again, flashing led, and would not bind. I also brought the 4 channel that refused to bind the day before. I turned it on without trying to bind and it connected and worked! Then I went home and tried the other 4 channel that worked the first time, and it now did not work. It appeared to be unbound, led flashing. I have a Futaba transmitter module with a DFT module. I found a battery for it and all the D8 receivers bind to it fine. I then try to bind one back to the QX7, and no go. Appears unbound, led flashing. However, now it does not work with the DFT module, I have to bind it, which means it actually did bind to the QX7, it just does not connect. I upgraded the firmware in the internal XJT module to what I believe is the latest non 2.0 ACCST firmware. XJT-Ver170317.zip, with no change. So I am giving up on D8! I read somewhere that you can upgrade the internal QX7 XJT module to ACCESS. It said that it would no longer support ACCST, just ACCESS. Whereas the new QX7's come with the ISRM module that does both (but ACCESS is ver 2.0). Does anyone know if this is true? I can't find where I read this. If so, do you just use the firmware file that is under QX7/ACCESS? that firmware says ISRM, not XJT? There is no ACCESS firmware under the regular QX7. My plan was to buy an external XJT module. Upgrade that to ACCST 2.0, and slowly upgrade my non ACCESS upgradable receivers to it. When that is done, I would upgrade the internal module to ACCESS and use it for my ACCESS upgradable receivers. I can't use D8 anymore anyway.
