Shouldn't need to. I updated my X9D, and the models are still there, exactly like how it was. But yea, make full backup (including old firmware), and backup SD card content too as you will have to replace it with a new folder structure. 05-May-2017, 01:22 AM Thank you guys. I have everything backed up. Just need to go ahead and do it then 14-May-2017, 12:37 AM Sooo I'll be getting my Q X7 monday will it need an update out of the box? 14-May-2017, 01:40 AM (This post was last modified: 14-May-2017, 01:41 AM by Drone0fPrey.) 14-May-2017, 01:54 AM (14-May-2017, 01:40 AM)Drone0fPrey Wrote: Nope. Just an SD card with the sound files on it, if you want voice. I used factory firmware for a month or so without issue. Yeah I think voice I will do but not sure what else.... Coming from FlySky I don't need much. Still not understanding what actual functionality is stock and what's modded since it seems most everyone mods them 14-May-2017, 12:16 PM (This post was last modified: 14-May-2017, 12:18 PM by Drone0fPrey.) Out of the box, the only "mod" I guess you have to do, would be adjusting your control sticks, which really isn't a mod imo . Throttle comes centered with spring tension. And this gives you the opportunity to set up how your sticks feel, tight-n-springy or loose-n-floppy hahaha (so many jokes there I know ) also wether or not your throttle as detent/click feeling or just smooth resistance. It is completely dependent upon your personal "what feels best" Other than that, and my firmware now, the only thing I have done to mine is all cosmetic, so feel free to ask anything. I've been using mine for about 2 months now 14-May-2017, 05:31 PM (14-May-2017, 12:16 PM)Drone0fPrey Wrote: Out of the box, the only "mod" I guess you have to do, would be adjusting your control sticks, which really isn't a mod imo . As far as firmware goes will there be any need to flash another version of OpenTX? 15-May-2017, 04:37 AM Not really a major need that I have found other than working a little better with OpenTX Companion. Factory firmware didn't always read model settings and profile correctly, but that may have been because my version of companion was a bit newer than the factory firmware. Really just some added perks and user friendliness. I you set up your models from the radio (which I recommend simply because it teaches you the ins and outs of the transmitter itself) there is no major need to update your firmware unless a certain release was something you just can't live without |
