Quadcopter build: motors dont spin
#1
Hello I followed a video on YouTube by UAVfutures features. I got an all in 4 esc with an f3 fc.
I got a turnigy evolution receiver which contain an ai6c reciever. I got everything finished and binded. When it came time to check i gave it a bit of throttle and nothing. When I hooked it up to clean flight. Under the reciever tab non of the bars move as I throttle or yaw, nothing! My controller is binded. When plug the battery in, the motors move slightly.
Thanks in advance i really want to get my quadcopter up in the air & thanks in advance for my beginner question.
BTW when I connect my quad two lights come on ( one steady blue & a blinking red light)

I don't know if English is your first language or not, but there is no such word as "binded". The past tense of "to bind" is "bound".

If you don't see any movement in the receiver tab, check that you have connected the receiver to the flight controller correctly. Check that you have set the correct receiver configuration.

If you think you have checked all this, show us how you have connected things and how you have set things up in the configurator.

Also something that may help Omar,

Which receiver are you using? The one I use needs certain pins to be jumpered when binding or it'll appear like everything is fine but not do anything when wired up to the quad.

Make sure you have the correct receiver type defined on your Configuration tab.

I'm using PWM (One wire per channel) and this is not the default, so I spent some time to figure out what was happening.
Have a look on this, once you fix this and you see the bars moving at receiver tab, then test the motors (motors tab first) and ENSURE you don't have the propellers installed.

Hope it helps

I'm using the turnigy ia6c reciever. I set it up with ibus/sbus

So I did check the motors and they are working. My only problem is that in cleanflight my radio is not recognized. I have done what you suggested, but on my computer when I try to click default it doesn't allow me too. I'm only allowed 2 different options only

Omar, I´m sorry but I don´t understand.

You say here that motors dont spin and cleanflight doesn´t recognize it, so how do you know this is actually working fine ?

Please clarify so we try to help you because if your motors dont´t spin and and receiver is not recognized I don´t why you think it´s working, looks like a piece is missing in this puzzle  Confused

Thanks

On cleanflight , under the motor tab I checked the motors to see if everything was wired right and working. When I went to test them, they were spining and working. So my only problem now is that on cleanflight my radio isn't bieng recognized. Under the reciever tab, none of the bars move as I throttle up or yaw, spin.. nothing moves. Hope this is clear enough

Omar,

What Radio you are using, what kind of connection to the FC you have and what is your current Receiver mode at Configuration tab on cleanflight ?

If you power the quad with battery, and go to the motors tab, are motors spinning ? Keep in mind that just by plugging USB will not power your motors, you need the battery properly plugged also.

so for now:
- you have proven that motors + esc + FC are wired correctly and you can spin them up in the motor tab.

next things to validate:
- connection between FC and RX, (have you soldered the parts to the right place? do you need to make any bridge with solder (ibus/ppm? on your FC))
- if there is power in the RX
- it it is bound correctly with your TX
- if it (RX) is configured to output ibus/sbus?
- if you are using ibus / sbus have you configured CORRECT port as serial RX ?
- if you are using ibus / sbus have you configured the CORRECT mode in the config tab (serial/ibus/sbus etc)
- if all above an in rx tab you see the movement which is not aligned to your tx play with the mapping in the combobox... AERT typically works for those radios.

most likley places that you might have missed something are - Wrong uart configured as serial_RX ( i do this all the time)

also ... pictures will help us understand better your connections (FC + RX)
All the best

Yes they motors do spin, when the battery is connected. I have a turnigy evolution radio with an ai6c reciever

If the black red and white wires going off the picture to the lower right are for your receiver, it is connected to UART3, not UART2 as you have it set in the configurator. Try setting only UART3 as a serial receiver instead.

edit: You can find the manual for the original board at seriouslypro.com

thanks, that was the whole problem. I set the serial reciever and right away it picked up the radios movements !
