3 I have a new build that's been acting up. For some odd reason the thing flew perfectly fine my first 2 packs last weekend. My third pack ended with a (not hard) crash in a tree. Not even a prop put of place.
After that crash, one of the motors was a bit crunchy but I worked it loose and it spun fine. However, I noticed the bottom plate was blazing hot - and the vista smelled burnt - I had my vista spaced off of the plate with metal nuts. But video still worked fine.
Since then, when I throttle it's almost like it's not getting any power. I arm and the motors all spin up and in the correct direction. But it struggles to lift. Today I tested again and my first pack got off the ground and flew perfectly. The second pack, it wouldn't lift again.
So I took it home and plugged in to check my esc settings. When I plugged, something popped lightly and smoke came out by where the vista is...I couldn't smell any burning this time, but yet again, the vista still works! Everything plugs in and reads fine.
There are so many problems here that I can't figure out what is going on. Any thoughts?
I'm using a tmotor 55a 4 in 1, Tmotor f60 motors, all brand new.

100 vista has grounded stack holes, pretty bad - i can not imagene way the did that..
i would suggest to start mesuring wuth the multimeter or mount the vista with tape not by screws as a try.

4 Sounds like a blown mosfet on your esc. ESC could have lost a phase and will still spin the motor but super weak and your other motors will match the weak motor in attempt to fly. I'd imagine your smoke came from the esc.

3 13-Jun-2023, 01:33 PM (This post was last modified: 13-Jun-2023, 02:41 PM by JinxFPV.) I've always used screws on the stack holes and never had that issue. Maybe I'll switch to plastic screws. Also the motors spin up all fine on the bench, I'm not noticing one being slower than the others.
EDIT: So the quad lifts off again. It appears to be Kiss Ultra having a problem with idle up setup in the controller. Deleted it and it works fine.

4 Nice, glad you found out the issue. I still have a KISS stack I need to try out. Just too lazy to learn how to set it all up lol

100 that doesnt explain smoke, mesure by the multimeter d
wouldnt take much time. its common to mount it by metal screws, but its a possible source for failure.

What am I measuring for? Continuity?

I checked and there is continuity between ground and the screws as well as the carbon.
Checked my other builds and same thing - even a prebuilt I got from getfpv has a vista mounted directly to the carbon.
Regardless, I've removed the screws from this vista and replaced with double sided tape and zip ties. At least it's not grounded to the frame now. I have a feeling the last pop may have been the metal buckle on my lipo strap touching the vista screws briefly.
I also saw a madstech video that it doesn't matter if the frame is grounded so now I'm confused.

100 its a higher risk for failure, any continuity to plus would be intressting. that the vista holes are grounded and does give continuity was expected.
