Quad shows correct Inputs and stuff in BF as soon as battery is used nothing works
#1
Hi there,

I have a protek25 which I fly regularly.
This weekend I wanted to solder a power supply for naked GoPro. Long story short my soldering skills aren`t the best so I need a smaller solder iron. So I canceld my plan and just put everything back together.
In Betaflight the the quad shows the correct inputs and everything looks normal (for me). Crossfire is boun. Radio shows that is connected to the quad.
so where the problem starts as soon as i plug a battery the Inputs are gone and the bars are not moving at all. As soon as I plug the battery again nothing works.

Is there anybody out there who knows this kind of error?

Quad: Iflight Protek25
reciever: crossfire micro v2
radio: taranis qx7

A CLI dump would help.

Assuming you have CRSF selected as the Serial Receiver Provider under Betaflight Configurator> Configuration tab and the correct Uart has Serial RX enabled in the Betaflight Configurator> Ports tab all should be working. Do you see any stick movement in the Betaflight Configurator> Receiver tab ?

With regards to the naked Gopro, you can make a lipo balance plug connector or buy one online. This way you do not have to solder to the FC and you can use it on several quads.

Here you can see the CLI dump. I did select CRSF. And I do see the stick movement either throttle, yaw, roll etc even AUX 1 to 3 everything is working perfectly. But a s soon as I plug the battery the complete inputs become kind of "updated" and nothing works, no inputs at all.

Thanks for the hint with the naked GoPro. I think this is the right way to do.

Does the FC's led's light up when you plug the lipo in? Does the crossfire receiver light up as well?

Yes crossfire and FC LED are lit when plugging a lipo.

I don’t see anything unusual in your dump file.

Did you change anything with the wiring or are any wires touching any unwanted pads?

Could there be a short happening when the lipo is connected that is causing problems?

Seems so strange that it works fine on USB power, and completely dead on lipo power. Makes me think there could be a short happening when lipo is connected.

When you pulled the quad apart did you try to do any soldering? If so, I would look very carefully around there for any bridging between pads, or stray balls of solder on the board.

Maybe the 5V BEC on the FC is dead? That would explain why it works on USB but nothing works on battery. Check to make sure it isn't shorted by something. Is there continuity between the 5V and ground pads on the FC with nothing plugged in?

Thanks guys for your replys. I did solder on the pads but the soldering iron was not functioning properly. Maybe I dif short something. When it is shorted is the board irreversibly broken or what should I do?

If you can locate and remove the short it might still work. If not, you can add an external 5V BEC.
