Propellers mounted on stored quad.
#1
Hi guys, I'm here with a stupid question today.

I would like to ask you if it's a good idea to store my quads with propellers mounted and tightened nuts.

I've seen many videos on youtube of walls covered by hundreds of hanged quads and all of them were hanged with propellers mounted. Is it a good idea to keep propellers on ? Tightened nuts may cause any damage over time ? Is it better to leave the propellers on with loose nuts? (Obviously, if needed, I will completely remove them before running the motors on the bench!)

In addition, please look at the following picture

Propellers have been tightened with approximately the same torque and, if you look at the nut of the front-right motor, the shaft is clearly protruding from the nut more than the other. Why ? Is it possible that the shaft is longer ? Damaged nylon gasket inside the nut ? Anything else?

Thank you!

There are no issues doing that. Mine are on the wall with the props all fitted and tightened. Makes it easier to just chuck a quad in your bag and go flying. If I need to do any work on the bench which requires plugging in a LiPo then I obviously remove them.

As for your other question, the motor, prop, or nut on that motor might just have been manufactured to a different tolerance compared to the others. Measure the height of the shaft from the bell, the height of the prop hub, and the height of the prop nut. Then compare them with the others. It's likely nothing to worry about.

Thank you snow! I will check those dimensions to see where is the matter!

Mine are hanged to this structure with 3d printed supports i designed specifically.
