0 Hi,
Does anyone know, it you double the pitch of a propeller, about how much more power does it take to run it at the same throttle?
Thanks

8 im not sure it is a straightforward answer. it likely depends on motor size, voltage being used, along with the pitch in question.
i imagine there is an exponential increase past a certain point. taking a normal 5'' 3.0 pitch and doubling it to a 6.0 (which i dont think anyone even makes) is probably a small increase, maybe a few amps at full throttle. if you were to go to a 9.0 or higher, i imagine the draw starts to grow way more as your pitch starts to just basically turn the prop sideways into the airflow rather than creating lift.
for miniquads (3,4,5,6"ers, etc) i imagine increasing prop size causes more current draw than any pitch changes will with what is available on the market.

93 Motor power scales linearly with pitch and number of blades, with the cube of voltage and Kv, and with the 4th power of prop diameter. So doubling the prop pitch will double the power requirements at the same RPM, assuming your motor has enough torque to reach the same RPM at that throttle setting.

0 Thank you. Does it also double the lift?

93 If you could move twice as much air per revolution it would, but in practice you won't see near double the thrust due to inefficiencies using a higher pitched propeller with low inflow velocity (ie in a hovering quad vs a fast flying airplane).
If you need more thrust, the best way is with a larger motor and larger prop diameter. You can also add blades to increase thrust at a given prop diameter, but efficiency will decrease.
