Hi, I have a question.  I'm currently running a Radix F4 analog on a 7" Super G+.  I'm going to put a vista in it and trying to figure out if the Brain OSD will work with DJI FPV goggles or if I need a different FC.

You'll be fine.

DJI uses a completely different mechanism for OSD (using the MSP data from the flight controller) so the OSD chip on the FC won't be used at all. As long as you've got a spare UART you're good to go. Keep in mind that powering the air unit (or Vista) might be more awkward though, since you can't do it using 5V.

I have an Air Unit on a 5" with a Kakute F7 HDV and the only thing I get from that is kwad voltage.  If I could get LQ too that would be all I need.

You can get Crossfire LQ in the DJI OSD by configuring a spare channel on your receiver to send the LQ value to the FC. This then gets read by Betaflight as the "RSSI" value but it is really the LQ value. Then just select the RSSI element to be displayed in the OSD (which is actually the LQ value).

If you do the Crossfire LQ trick that SnowLeopard mentioned, you can put it on channel 9-12, and set it back to 8 channel mode and it still transmits the data. Don't know why or how but it does.

I set my transmitter to 12 channel mode, then put LQ on channel 12, then set transmitter back to 8 channel mode. Then just turn on RSSI in betaflight on "AUX 8" (which is channel 12) and it still works even though its back on 8 channel.

I don't even know if there is any real benefit to running 8 channel, but I do since I don't need the others, except for LQ.

It's definitely not latency which is the same whether you use 8 or 12 channels. People believe it is likely range (less range with 12 channels) but unless you fly ultra long range then it will make no difference.

I'm using 9 channels on one of my quads for various Betaflight modes so I run it in 12 channel mode with no noticeable difference compared to ones that I run in 8 channel mode. I don't fly long range.
