Phantom 4n1 substitute or replace?
#1
I was flying my phantom and it did a death roll and I tried taking off again and 50 feet away it death rolled again.
I unplugged LiPo and tried again and one motor started sputtering and I am almost certain one ESC gave out.
I tried a few times later and the motor/ESC in question gets a bit warmer then the others so I will likely verify it’s the ESC and order a new one or get a upgrade.

I find it kind of strange that flying along the esc gives out after no prop strikes or flipping upside down and not disarming fast enough.

I have blown ESC before and it’s usually from a prop strike or obstruction but to have a esc go out during flight at 1/2 power has never happened.

It takes this 4n1 and if there’s a beefier one maybe it will hold up longer or I just got a dud?

I haven’t tore stack down but checked wires and soon will try a different motor.

From experience it behaves like a blown ESC but a different motor will verify.

Is there any 16 by 16 4n1 ESC that would be a better choice for phantom or just get original?

Electronics in this hobby aren't the best quality. I am never surprised anymore with DOA electronics or a few uses.

I don't have a suggestion for your replacement. I would just buy from a good manufacturer. Although you might have to deal with rearrange harness cable.
