Motors to replace Cobra 2204's?
#1
Hi guys,

I've been running the Cobra 2204 2300's on a pair of QAV210's for a long time now. I've never felt the need to change what has worked well for me, or until now Smile

I seem to be bending/breaking them a lot recently and rather than buy more spares I thought I'd change out the motors on one of the pair (and use those removed as spares for the other).

There's been a lot of new motors over the last year or so, what would you put on, without going crazy with weight or power?

Got my eye on the Emax RS2205's at the moment...

Cheers

DYS SE2205 are good motors, similar performance to the RS2205 motors.
Current quad: ZMR 250 / DYS SE2205 / Littlebee 20A ESCs / Drone Lab 1500 4S / Naze32 Rev5 / BF 2.7.1
FPV: Runcam Skyplus / Aomway 200mw VTX / Fatshark DomV1

Thanks Hamster, very similar and I like the fact they're not using C clips which will make life easier. I did read something somewhere about high temperatures on these which combined with the N52 magnets could be a problem.

Have you had any issues with heat?

i would go with the DYS SE2205 Pro Edition. same thing except the motors have solder pads instead of wires. makes it very easy to swap a motor, and helps make your build look super clean cause you can cut the wires really short.

Very nice, I didn't go with the Pro version in the end as whilst I like the idea of the solder pads, I prefer the fact that I don't have any exposed joints on the standard version and it's not been an issue for me previously when replacing.

I'm still a little nervous about heat on these bad boys though, I'm guessing by how clean they are that you've not flown them yet? Smile

Why on earth did you spend all that money on those things, you know it's just a label  Angel Rolleyes

I'm not really keen on taking a leap change on these QAV's, I've had to convince myself to try something other than the Cobra's that have done me so well (partly as stock seems to be drying up). I'm certainly not willing to pay the money for the Skitzo's  Tongue

Well you know mate that I've got the Lumenier RX2206 2350's on the new alien build if I ever get the thing to fly. On that note I've just dropped in the new KISS FC so a test flight will be in order if the rain ever dissipates.

Have you got your Tiny Whoop done yet??

That's an old pic I took to send some friends when I was first got them. I've been flying them for a while now paired up with some XS30A. they do come down a little hot when I run 5045x3 props, but I've found that I get better performance with 5040x3 and they're not as hot.

Video
The DYS SE2205 2300's arrived today but the first one I opened doesn't look right to me, is it just the nut off center or something more sinister?

I've created a short video, what do you think?

it's just the screw that holds the shaft is off centered, I've had 2 of them that looked like that, although didn't look that bad. I installed and flew them anyways and they were fine.

Thanks Jimmy, HobbyRC confirmed the same so will fit them when I'm back from holiday Smile
