pepperfish FC on 2S
#1
Hello,

A few weeks ago i built a pepperf1sh clone with racerstar parts (F3D8 FC and Star4A ESC). It was awesome and fun. Although I'm not a good pilot I missed some extra power. :Smile So i decided I'm going to build this tiny mosquito on 2S. The original pepperF1SH FC (Tinyfish) can handle up to 3S battery and fortunately the clone also can (it was confirmed on rcgroups). So I needed a light 16x16mm ESC. At that time Simon (author of pepperf1sh) had only a prototype version for 2S and his design wasn't released by Furious FPV so I needed an alternative. Fortunately Racerstar made a 2S capable 16x16mm ESC and the specs are pretty close to Simon design. Last week I received the clone FC and the ESC:

and two days ago I got the battery (2S 400mAh, 22g) which is not the final version (I'm still waiting them) but finally I had all the parts and I was able to build this tiny quad.

Here is part list:

Here are some close-up pictures from the ESC:

All AIOs max input voltage is 5,5V so I had to figure out something to feed the camera. As I read somebody was able use the AIO on 2S but I think it's not the best practice. I don't want to use a step-down converter so I decided to use balancer connector only to power the quad and I use one cell from the balancer plug to power the AIO:

It's working quite well. After a 4 mins hovering the cells were 3,80V and 3,85V so there was no huge imbalance between them.

The total weight with this temporary battery(22g) is 54g. The final battery is only 16g so it will ended somewhere 48g.

Unfortunately I was able to perform just a hovering test in my flat but it has much more power. Tomorrow I'm going to fly it on our field Smile

Hi,

The FC has buzzer port and I simply connected this buzzer to these pads.

regs,

@MFer: I had BF 3.1.7 on my copter but just upgraded to 3.2.0 RC5 and I can confirm that the buzzer is working. Can you double check the buzzer connections and your settings? What kind of buzzer do you have?

@Tom BD Bad: You' right it's my bad Smile But I really disliked the quality of the Racerstar 1103 motors so I decided to change them. I found that RCX has also 1103 motors: RS1103 7800KV. So I changed the motors. Unfortunately this motor has 1mm shaft which is really short and I'm not able to fit my props properly... I've already ordered the new props which are using screws but I'm still waiting for it.

I'm really curious about the performance of the RCX motors. This motor uses N52H magnets and according to the specs it's quite powerful:

RCX1103 - 7800KV:
Prop:KK1935-3   Voltage:8.4V   Current:6.66A   Thrust:101g

Racerstar BR1103 - 10000KV
Prop:3020   Voltage:7.4V   Current:6.2A   Thrust:66g

Those RCX motors will be a revelation! They produce some good motors at MyRcMart and I've always preferred the prop mounting method on these 11xx motors with a 1mm shaft and two screws.

hmm.
1. I have standard 5v active buzzer (https://www.banggood.com/5-PCS-Super-Lou...17207.html).

2. '+' buzzer pad is shortcut with vbat! meaning 2S voltage goes to buzzer!

3. '-' buzzer is connected to transistor leg - it is beeper control as I suppose.

4. I have zero volts between '+' and '-' beeper pads either beeper off (red led on F3D8 solid) or beeper on (red led on F3D8 is blinking).

I suppose that I roasted transistor with 2S... ((

upd: I tried Matek buzzer (https://www.banggood.com/ru/Matek-Lost-M...06877.html), powering it from separate 5v bec. and signal cable from '-' buzzer pad from F3D8 -> no way...
will try to make a servo control through uart3 for matek buzzer PWM control... but it is plus 1,3 gram to AUW (((

Hi MFer your buzzer connection looks OK. It's really strange why it doesn't work...

Finally I've received the props (I ordered them from bangood on 15/08/2017)...

Here is the raw video from my friend's DVR:

Sorry for the quality of the video.

Nice!

That's a very quick little quad you've built there.
