ORQA tale of woe
#16
Tracking says goggles will be here Wednesday.
Unfortunately I'm going to be really busy for the next 10 days and likely
won't get to touch them.

July 5th to July 19th with a round trip to Coratia.
Goggles are back, goggles are repaired.
Currently printing some parts off thingiverse to try and fix the #$%^## goggles strap.

In the mean time I'd been flying nothing but DJI and I've forgotten how bad even good analog is.
I'm spoiled.

I had a chance to try some Orqas at a race recently. I really enjoy my HDO2's but the Orqas were damn good, and I love the DVR. It's a tough call.

I saw a set of Orqas on eBay yesterday - both screens dead but works fine otherwise, plus it came with a patch antenna and FPV Connect module. Based on your repair tale/costs, I decided to take the risk, bid $200 and won. In the event I have to pay for two new screens, I'd still come out well, as I'm seeing these going USED for $750 in the Orqa owners lounge.

Provided the fix goes well when I send them in, I'll take a month and decide between my HDO2's and Orqas and sell the one I prefer least.

Jinx, I did not expect you were the gambling type Smile

I am hoping it all works out for you after the repair.

Orqa's are fairly future & feature proof compared to the HDO2's I have. Some say these features are a gimmick but they do stand out from the rest of the goggles on the market.

There have been some interesting posts on the Orqa Facebook page in the last few days regarding the "Final Update" for the FPV.One goggles firmware and some disappointed customers. Orqa clarified that today with the post below. The bottom line is that support will continue but no more new features will be developed for the FPV.One goggles.

It sounds like they have something "new" on the horizon that they are now directing their resources to. Maybe the new rumoured digital system that they are supposedly working on.

Ivan Jelušić Wrote:"Final update" for FPV.One deserves some clarification on our end:
- every new product and accessory is and will be interoperable and compatible with the original model and the other way around. We are not stopping support for FPV.One;
- for 2 whole years we were continuously releasing new features and updates, leading the way for innovation in FPV industry, setting new standards and constantly raising the bar of what is possible with a single pair of goggles;
- final update for FPV.One means that we have exploited our hardware platform and we can not squeeze more into it. It is like when you have limited amount of RAM and disk space and you can't a install new program on your computer. It is actually a very simple thing;
- our firmware dev team invested more than 10.000 hours into building features per your suggestions and requests...sometimes going that far to satisfy a single person by delivering what is asked for;
I don't think that most of the criticism here is justified, simply because it is not grounded. I feel absolutely proud and happy for all of our team and you all should look forward to what's coming next.
Love from Croatia ❤

Hard to resist Croatian love but their new product better be their digital HD system Smile

I am sure they will still run bug fixes on the Orqa.One gogles just no more new features. That's still acceptable to me.

They are still alot better than Fatshark that has not released a single firmware update since release. The usb firmware update port on 99.99% of the HDO2's has never enjoyed the pleasure of a usb plug except probably at the factory line Smile

Look familiar:

I believe Joshua Bardwell said that ImmersionRC provided one DVR update via that port.

That DVR firmware update was done via the SD Card (another post about that HERE). That module board USB connector doesn't even exist on the V1 HDO's (see HERE).

I wonder what the point of that port is, then?

Will do...I do see AliExpress has what is most likely the same OLED screens for $88 each (seller confirmed they plugged in a 4S battery and burned out the screens)...I'm tempted to do the fix myself (I've done a similar one with my HDO2's to get a strand of fuzz off the OLEDs), but if I keep rolling the dice I might crap out, LOL.  Will watch an Orqa teardown video and see how confident I feel.

Knowing the prior owner plugged in a 4s… there maybe more damage than just the screens….
I would send them out, once you have a fully operational set… and then a screen goes out. I would try the repair..
