Orqa Goggles Bootloader Bricking Issue was RANSOMWARE
#31
Louis is right on the money with his analysis and assessment of the whole charade IMO.

It looks like Orqa wasn't happy with Louis' bad publicity of their products / company and posted the response below on Facebook. With talk of BS, the pot calling the kettle black springs to mind. Louis has done more for consumer right to repair than Orqa with their closed-source firmware that bricked people's hardware have ever done.

Orqa should stop proclaiming themselves as the heroes for "fixing" something they allowed into their products in the first place through lack of proper contracts and substandard due diligence, they should stop digging themselves into an even deeper hole with what they spout on social media, and they should employ a proper PR specialist to make any public statements on their behalf in a professional manner.

I don’t own Orqa’s, but I used to at least view their company in a neutral/positive light. They seemed to be a respected company.

After watching all of this unfold, and seeing how they’re handling it… I don’t think I want to own any of their products in the future.
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

Ouch that’s got to ruffle some feathers at Orqa and that’s a very popular channel.Almost 1.8 million subscribers and already 8K views in 7 hours.
I wasn’t aware that Orqa and Swarg are both in the same business block or building but he said in the video that Swarg and Orqa have the same physical address but different tax numbers.

The fact that they are in the same building or business park doesn’t help matters.

There’s a few pilots selling Orqa goggles right on Orqa Facebook page.Whether out of spite or serious I don’t know but that’s Facebook.

From what I understand the shutdown codes are gone but that nagging feeling of goggles saying Swarg will continue to linger.

  What a shit show.

Hdzero may be seeing a spike in sales this year.

Myself as soon as HDZ gets analog more consistent I will likely grab a set.
My Orqa Pilots I’ll just use them to the wheels fall off.
I may use the tweezer method and be done with RTC and possible bricking.
Just for curiosity I set my dates to Aug 23,2025, then 2050 power cycled twice and my goggles are still working.

Sometimes you just gotta say....

"@#$% this hobby"

I swear, the amount of amateurs running businesses in this hobby astound me.

For me, say I had a chance between Orqa and Fat Shark? I would ask myself what the vast majority of my peers use. What about Orqa and DJI? Same.

When i first got into this they were niche, not mainstream and my mind hasn't really changed since then. Stick with FS or DJI or HDZ. Better the devil you know.

I think once the influencers stop stirring up the drama it’ll be fpv as usual.
I have heard that Orqa was getting ready to release a new goggle from JB and Blunty and Mad Tech in about 10 days but then the bricking issue occurred.
So basically more hype and no real news.

I heard the same, but it was apparently the same old usual teasers and cryptic information being spouted by Orqa which is no real surprise. They really do set themselves up for a complete bashing from the FPV community every time they post something online. So as well as a professional PR team they also need to hire themselves a proper marketing team too.

They only just released two new goggles a year ago which were "digital ready" with a bespoke port on the top so my question would be why another new set of goggles so soon? It's already been said that they're not digital, so what, another set of "digital ready" analog goggles? FPV.One Pilot (V2) and FPV.One Race users are going to be pissed if their $600 one year old goggles have become obsolete already.

Orqa also publicly stated a few weeks ago that they won't be releasing a digital system until they are able to compete with the best system currently on the market, and we all know which system that is, so I probably wouldn't hold your breath waiting for their digital FPV system to make an appearance. I guess the dummy "digital VTX" boxes they had in their glass cabinet at CES last year have already been melted down as scrap metal.
