old quad updated, no longer hovers, HELP
#1
Hi
I posted this in beginners forum and havent had much luck.
I recently upgraded an old 250 quad frame that previously flew ok a few years back with a naze32 flight controller.
I replaced the naze32 with a new matek f405TE and installed inav6 using the 5inch presets.
When I try to take off and hover the quad, it starts oscillating violently forcing me to disarm.
I know this must be a tuning thing as I have checked all the obvious stuff for vibrations going to the FC like tight cables, unbalanced props etc.
Tried reducing the d gains but not made much difference.
Can anyone point me in the direction of anything to try and to get this thing hovering stably

Many thanks

D alone won't solve violent oscillation with its roots in over setting P, etc, etc.

what motors do you use? which props?
what batteries? new or maybe gone?

was there a test flight befor the firmware update, did everytjing work befor for sure?

the preset might be for a common 5inch with a power to weight ratio of about 1/10. if you use older stuff, maybe on 3s, it might have lower power to weight ratio and the preset doesnt match.

a lower power to weight would require higher pid values.

tell us more about the build, maybe some fotos can help eitjer.

Good news and bad news.

1. Matek F405TE has ICM gyro. Its sensitive. Do NOT remove filtering. 0.8x sliders is MORE filtering and might be required.

2. It has microsd for blackbox. I highly advise to collect blackbox logs with "gyro filtered" debug at 2khz.

3. PID tuning window for 5" is VERY wide. Normally only wobbles after sharp flip/roll. Must be WAY off to cause shaking.

4. Typically lower is safer. P30 I40 D20 is good starting point. If P is causing problem, try P25.
