The Mrs got me a kit for Christmas and I've been kind-of obsessed since. So far, all I've really done is build and take a first tentative flight (and crash ). Unfortunately, weather and timing haven't coincided for the last two weeks. Still thinking about it all the time... What I have: - Emax Nighthawk 250
- Emax MT2204-2300KV motors
- BLHeli 12A ESC
- Skyline32 FC Acro version
- Flysky FS-i6 TX & FS-iA6 RX
Built up with a PDB, and ESC bullets - was quite a fun process in itself. I plan to add FPV and other bits in the future, but I suppose i *should* at least learn to LOS fly first... Already learnt a few lessons about this world - would have made a couple of different decisions. (such as getting a Rx module that can do PPM/SBUS rather than just PWM). Looking forward to learning a whole lot more. Stumbled on this community through Oscar's rich blog. Best resource out there by far! I'm originally from Shepherds Bush, living with my Mrs in South Africa now, I don't envy you waiting for good flying conditions! I don't have a 'proper' quad yet (toy grade eachine E010 and H8) and honestly I can't recommend enough - getting something to fly indoors to keep your thumbs working and your 'eye in.' The E010 (inductrix clone) would be my 1st choice because the ducted props protect your... well actually your whole house, dog, family etc... As you see it doesn't take long to get responses here at IntoFPV, and from some really helpful and experienced people too! • Posts: 15 Threads: 3 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 0 (18-Jan-2017, 05:51 PM)Tom BD Bad Wrote: I'm originally from Shepherds Bush, living with my Mrs in South Africa now I've just (13 months ago) done the opposite move! Good for you! Wow, moving in Dec must have been HARD! I hope the pounds give you a sunny disposition regardless of the weather! My wife's parents moved over (from Margate KZN) but could only hack it for a year before they moved back, dark when you leave for work in the morning and dark when you leave work in the evening, for 3-4 months of the year, isn't for everyone! Man Kwa-Zulu Natal south coast is just paradise, I am writing to you wearing only shorts/baggies! Do you miss home yet!? As for how expensive the hobby is - BangGood and GearBest do free delivery, I just try to buy a few extra bits to sell on and cover my costs - I haven't actually sold any of the 5 Eachine E010's I bought yet tho... the Mrs isn't so stoked with me! • Posts: 56 Threads: 4 Likes Received: 15 in 11 posts Likes Given: 6 Joined: Dec 2016 Reputation: 0 Welcome and greetings from across the smaller pond :-) • Posts: 15 Threads: 3 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 0 (18-Jan-2017, 06:53 PM)Tom BD Bad Wrote: Good for you! It was a drawn-out Nov->Jan move (me first, mrs & fam later), with a Christmas return to SA in the middle . It went a whole lot easier than it could've - helps to have family this end... We miss the family (both our sets of folks are still in SA) and friends, but that's it - very very happy with the move. Been back a couple of times (both work and pleasure) and it's just reinforced our decision. Keeping the Mrs happy is getting to be a lot more difficult with all these small packages arriving every few days - "What are you buying now? Haven't you got enough junk?" Just need to make sure a bunch of flowers arrives every now and then, too To everyone: Thanks for the warm welcome. I've already spent a lot of time here - just need to get less lurky and more chatty • Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 (20-Jan-2017, 09:27 AM)sr_intofpv Wrote: Keeping the Mrs happy is getting to be a lot more difficult with all these small packages arriving every few days - "What are you buying now? But this/these are the opposite of junk..!" The part of the sentence we never include...
