Newbie in Canada looking to get started
#1
Canadian here, looking to dip my toes into the world of cinewhoops. Seems I have a ton to learn and alot of decisions to make. Primarily what kind of camera I want to go with; GoPro, SMO 4K, Caddx Tarsier V2, ect.

I can see myself getting a freestyle drone down the road as well, they look like a blast and seem to be fairly inexpensive if you already have the goggles and controller.

Hey! Welcome to the forum and hobby! Wink  ! Im Canadian as well, where in Canada are you from?

I personally would definitely just recommend a gopro, they are obviously the most popular and there are other beneficial softwares built for them like realsteady.
Hope I helped!... or Thank You for helping me!    Instagram  :)

#1 GoPro, #2 SMO
But GoPro is more crash resistant than the other, probably better since this is your first drone i assume?

I'm definitely leaning towards GoPro, I have a Hero 4 I could use to get started then upgrade to a newer model. Although I have a feeling once I have the drone in my hands I'll be super impatient and order a new GoPro ASAP lol.

I have a question, does anyone mount GoPros on the bottom? There's some shots I'd like to take in that type of configuration. I have access to a 3D printer so I'm hoping I can find some designs online to print some mounts and whatnot

Plenty designs on thingiverse if you get a semi popular frame.
The main reason we dont mount cameras to the bottom is due to the tilt of the drone while flying at high speeds. If you mounted on the bottom and faced a bit forward and down, I suppose you sound get a birds eye view type shot, but if you had it facing forward you would have to tilt it up a bit to counter act the pitch of the drone, and then the props and possibly even the arms would be in frame.   hope that makes some sense!
