It's not much to pay extra and the value is there. The pre-built thing is kinda good, because I know I can't mess it up and I can start playing with it right away, but at the same point I'll miss the feeling of satisfaction from building the whole thing from the ground up and seeing it working But yeah, if I have time I'd definitely try asking them. It looks pretty impressive from the videos, must be super cool seeing it in person It was definitely worth getting both sheets. I find the powder coated sheet problematic for PLA because I just can't get the PLA to stick to it. So I always use the PEI sheet for PLA which I have no adhesion problems with. On the flip side, TPU sticks too well to PEI sheets and you can easily damage the PEI layer trying to pull the print off unless you use glue stick on the sheet first, but that just seems like extra unnecessary hassle IMO. That is where the powder coated sheet comes into play. It works beautifully with TPU which adheres nicely to the sheet and then just peels off the sheet once done with no risk of damage. So, the powder coated sheet for TPU and other flexibles, and the PEI sheet for PLA and probably the other plastics such as PETG that I've not yet tried The filament sensor is a nice-to-have but for only $20 extra it seems like a no-brainer to just get one fitted. • Posts: 438 Threads: 53 Likes Received: 378 in 189 posts Likes Given: 223 Joined: Jul 2018 Reputation: 18 Cool, that's a great piece of info about the different sheets for different materials. All I have to do now is wait... oh boy, I'm starting to bite my nails already • Posts: 21,326 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 A couple of new videos from Josef to wet the appetite of those who placed pre-orders for the Prusa MINI • Posts: 438 Threads: 53 Likes Received: 378 in 189 posts Likes Given: 223 Joined: Jul 2018 Reputation: 18 Saw them already, can't wait to have the baby at home. But as I posted in the chat, I placed my order some days after the preorders started, so there's still a long waiting ahead of me • Posts: 21,326 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 The handbook and firmware for the MINI along with a new version of PrusaSlicer 2.1.1 that incorporates stuff for the MINI has now also appeared on the Prusa website... https://www.prusa3d.com/drivers It looks like the early pre-orders are in the process of being shipped, with most of the rest of the pre-orders getting shipped in January & February 2020. Anyone ordering now won't get theirs shipped until at least April 2020. • Posts: 21,326 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 13-Mar-2020, 03:18 PM (This post was last modified: 13-Mar-2020, 03:30 PM by SnowLeopardFPV. Edit Reason: Typo corrections. ) For anyone who managed to get a Prusa MINI at launch and have it dispatched to them straight away, a number of 3D printable updated parts have since been released to make the printer better. For those who had to wait until after 23rd January (R2 parts release date) or 3rd March (R3 parts release date) before your MINI got dispatched, then hopefully yours will have those updated parts already fitted from the factory. For those who didn't, the updated parts are available to download from the following link so you can print and then fit them yourself... https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-MINI/releases And this is Chris Warkocki's livestream from yesterday where he fitted the R2 update parts... • |
