I love my Ender 3 Pro (I got the glass bed, level springs, and direct drive upgrades) - I have no issues with PLA, PLA+, TPU, and CFPLA

Can't say how it stacks up as it's the only printer I've had, but the Anycubic Kobra has been treating me pretty well so far. They've even marked it down to $230. That said, I've never really heard bad things about the Ender 3 which is cheaper. Printing on a budget has gotten pretty good.

I am quite new to 3D printing, and sure there are a lot of good options out there these days, just sharing my limited experience with one of them.
I picked up a Sovol S01pro on their halloween sale (I think it was like $240 shipped) and very easy to assemble (90% pre-assembled) and gave good functional TPU prints on default settings out of the box. It has a direct drive extruder, and I've read it helps with TPU.
Probably not the best print quality (I have some trouble on PETG) but on TPU on 0.2mm setting I get functional prints nearly every time. So glad I have this tool for drone building.

Sovol S01 Pro is great for TPU. It is my only printer that does it well enough that it is relegated to only TPU duty. But any direct drive printer should handle TPU. Except my Vorons.

The biggest tip I can give that has helped me: Print as slow as you need to and keep the filament as dry as you can. I store mine in vacuum-sealed, desiccant-filled bags. And when printing I have them in heated dry boxes. TPU really strings if it has any amount of moisture. Also don’t worry about retractions until you dial in everything else. And then it still isn’t critical.

If you are looking at multicolor TPU prints look at Prusa with MMU3. Or go down the rabbit hole and look at Voron world and ERCF. But if you want easiest, then Prusa is it. But it ain’t the cheapest. The above have great recommendations on cheapest routes. Or buy once cry once, though in this hobby (and 3D printing hobby) not much is cheap
