I been looking at the budget builds on youtube kinda leaning towards martian im going to build something in the 220mm size range but i want something kinda cheap to get some flight time on before sinking alot of cash in something im going to wreck a lot. Still undecided on goggles and radio thinking about dropping some money on those so want be something il just have to buy better later on.

Welcome to the forum. You most definitely won't regret getting into the hobby. What you will regret however is the amount of money it costs  Whistling Big Grin

The Martian is a good solid starter frame and is the one I also started with. I would have gone for something more expensive, but as a novice I didn't want to risk trashing a perfectly decent quality frame. My first build thread with that frame is HERE. On the other hand, things that will remain planted on terra firma like goggles and transmitter are worth spending money on because those aren't going to get smashed into the ground at 40mph Big Grin

Only 40mph? You are flying a little slow these days.

I guess you've not seen any of my flight videos Whistling I can fly a lot faster in the simulator Tongue

Which actually brings up another good point worth highlighting for people just starting out.

@Mechanic - one of the best things you can do is get yourself a transmitter and then get some practise in on an FPV simulator. Velocidrone and Liftoff (on Steam) are probably the two best sims out there right now although it goes without saying that they're also both the most expensive (~$20 each, but that's for a lifetime license which includes any updates).  You can crash as much as you want in a sim and it doesn't cost you a penny in repair bills Big Grin

Welcome

my daughter and family live in Durham. What part of NC do you live?

There is a nice little hobby shop .....  Hangar 18 Hobbies in Cary. I bought my first racing quad from them, Diatone GT200....and the Tech, Steve
has done a little work for me.  Good people.

I have been trying to find a place to fly when we go down there (I live in WV) but I cant even find a club in the area?
