New FAA Advisory Circular for "Recreational Operations"
#31
The video is circumstantial, it may show some violations (flying over people, maybe altitude, or location), but rarely do u see the pilot .. even then.. how is someone gonna prove that is the pilot for this particular quad..
It’s like aggressively driving a car or motorcycle .. doing it alone, I one around in a secluded area.. less chance of issues… doing it in a highly populated area with heavy traffic with hi probably of an accident.. you will have issues..
I seeing this going in the direction of “red light camera citations”.. the driver doesn’t get cited.. the registered owner get cited…

Hi Rob,

You know, I agree with you, however...consider that they can generally track down the poster of the video. Whether the pilot or not, it is a starting place...to begin an investigation. I don't want to be investigated {whether I get off or not}.

Even though the USA is supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty", it doesn't stop a suspect (video poster) from being contacted, given a warning, fined, or maybe arrested, even brought to court on charges. Even if there is no "real" proof and the suspect gets off, there is the hassle, the money for assorted (legal) fees, and the fact that NOW the person is on the "radar" so to speak. Anyone who has ever been arrested understands this all too well.

Yeah, I know, we all think our little drone hobby is not worth the effort and FAA "should" have bigger fish to fry. Maybe and maybe not. IF this is the case, then why is there so much attention being paid to the "little drone hobby" ?? Because, they NO LONGER look at it as an insignificant little hobby...NOW... it has become an area of concern... a possible THREAT to society.

The idiot pilots have brought this to the forefront.

Speaking of the FAA, they have released one of those things for comment...about the CBOs and more regulations.

CBOs = FAA Adding NEW Requirements! - Comment NOW!

Yeah.. just commented on it.. your right, being “investigated” implies you did something of question, and in most people’s minds you did something WRONG. No matter the outcome, you have to fight for every inch of not being guilty or labeled..
Example- A co-worker( man or woman) brushes against another co-worker(mAn or woman) and accidentally contacts a “sensitive” body part… A complaint is made, H.R. gets involved, and a report is made to authorities. A narrow minded investigator picks it up, and follows through.. In most states, that person COULD be charged with a “sex crime”. IF convicted, that person now has to register as a “sex offender”.. if not, look at the ordeal, money and that person will always have that incident follow them..
Does this seem “far fetched”? NO, it isn’t.. I personally knew a IBM executive that had “sexual harassment charges” brought against him for opening a door for a female subordinate. Her argument was “it made me feel degraded and not a equal”. It didn’t go far.. but this person had to defend themself against someone’s feelings…
I see the hobby going to the point of “street racing”.. people are gonna do it, trick will be not or get caught.
