Some people that will end up buying these drones will not be capable of flying a diy 5" racer and some don't have the necessary skills to build one, some possibly don't have the spare time required. So this new DJI whatever will be very appealing, as to the claim that the whole hobby will freefall.... LOL, If the government in your country adds more rules or regulations hey... its happening in every country with or without DJI's input. Except for Thailand I think it will actually attract more people to this hobby, after all, I assume one of the aims of this forum was to attract new people to the hobby and baby them along. I myself bought a Mavic along with a few friends (yeah, I know, Just made a few enemies) and 4 of us decided it was too limiting and we started delving into diy drones (none of us very successful.. still learning) . I assume the same scenario will occur with the release of the DJI drone. The above comments remind me of the Apple vs Android drama ;( each has its pros and cons... Hey 'live and let live', I can assure everyone that this hobby will continue for a very long time even after the release of DJI's new income stream. Weather you can admit to it or not DJI has greatly helped the hobby in general, some of you even own DJI products. I myself love the Mavic Air II and hopefully my new DJI Goggles will arrive tomorrow but I love my diy 5 & 7" quad even more even tho its prone to more breakdowns than a 30y old Morris Minor ... sigh. BTW.. I didn't use Bangbad... thanxs Snow I can't speak for everyone, but the way I look at it is that people who buy it will either a) realise it's kinda trash and start making their own quads, have burned a load of money with DJI that would be better spent with vendors who support our hobby, b) get bored when they realise it's a Mavic with goggles or c) fly it like a pillock, poisoning the well for FPV. If we want to attract people to the hobby we need tiny whoops, not $1500 of vendor lock-in. The ground is for dead people. • Posts: 102 Threads: 20 Likes Received: 8 in 8 posts Likes Given: 77 Joined: Jan 2021 Reputation: 0 (18-Feb-2021, 09:55 AM)Banelle Wrote: I can't speak for everyone, but the way I look at it is that people who buy it will either a) realise it's kinda trash and start making their own quads, have burned a load of money with DJI that would be better spent with vendors who support our hobby, b) get bored when they realise it's a Mavic with goggles or c) fly it like a pillock, poisoning the well for FPV. LOL Well I'm obviously poisoning the well for FPV since I can barely hover atm but its great entertainment for onlookers ;( I HATE FRSKY!!! • Posts: 1,312 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 832 in 504 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Jul 2018 Reputation: 51 (18-Feb-2021, 10:47 AM)Titanv11 Wrote: I'm just guessing here.... We love you guys! I mean people who don't fly safely. Up until now we could always point at people flying Mavics around helipads and over crowds and just shrug and say "that's not us". Now DJI has made FPV available to the rich idiot crowd it's going to be harder for us to make that distinction. They get a ton of free advertisements on the forum. The amount of pages on this in a short time is great PR even if it’s mostly negative. I bet they are drooling over the money they will make on this disposable quad like craft! • Posts: 21,255 Threads: 587 Likes Received: 8,965 in 6,634 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 787 Bruce sums it all up quite nicely in a logical manner, as usual... https://youtu.be/KwOw5wIM7OI?t=470 Posts: 21,255 Threads: 587 Likes Received: 8,965 in 6,634 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 787 23-Feb-2021, 11:14 AM (This post was last modified: 26-Feb-2021, 09:25 PM by SnowLeopardFPV. There is however an emergency button on the controller that you can just press if you get into trouble and it will take over and recover itself back to a controlled stabilised flight. It seems like you have to take off in DJI's auto take-off mode like the camera drones do before you then switching to acro mode for manual flight. xD a computer take over controll by a performance flight xD for safety!!!!! xD is this the idea? do they like to hurt peoples to solve the reputation of drones xD so i choose drop as a failsafe procedure or disarm in case xD i guess we all. • Posts: 21,255 Threads: 587 Likes Received: 8,965 in 6,634 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 787 24-Feb-2021, 01:11 PM (This post was last modified: 24-Feb-2021, 01:17 PM by SnowLeopardFPV. This teasing is just taking to long since I doubt it can outperform a already good quad... It seems a nice polished product though. • |
