New DJI FPV Drone
It looks like the DJI FPV Drone is fairly crippled in the EU/UK due to the 25mW limit which doesn't look like it can be unlocked as it can on the standalone FPV system. I saw a few reviewers getting out about a mile, and one reviewer only got out to about 500m before signal was lost and the RTH kicked in (albeit with a couple of trees in between). So that is quite disappointing when coupled with the short flight time from the battery (one UK reviewer was getting ~8 minutes flying it in sport mode). I think these two things alone are probably a deal-breakers for a lot of people in the EU/UK.

Cool idea. I do wonder without a moulded frame, transplanting all the electronics and sensors onto a traditional carbon fibre frame will not be easy and I doubt we can reduce the weight much.

its just a build no one of us would mention to do xD ist a scam to fpv culture :-)
-there is no durability
-there is no diversity for use
-there is no performance, limited from the strange concept of a heavy build on 5,3inch rotors; weight of 1kg
-the flighttime is still very very poor compared to all the performance downsides

a lot members on this website could do a build which is -much much- better in every disciiline for 1/4 of the price. its just a scam, a scam with a huge name on it "dji" and a lot of marketing money for all these crappy nonsense reviews Undecided

probably someone like to sell an old zmr250 with airunit xD and the peoples would be fascinated about it xD

The biggest problem with that is it would likely require re-tuning for a different frame, and guess what. DJI don't give you the ability to change the PIDs. All an end user can change are the rates.

Very good point.
And the carbon fibre frame might have an effect on GPS signal too.
Moving it to a different frame also void the warranty?

For anyone in a CE region who has a crippled version of the DJI FPV Drone with restricted output power and limited range, Drone-Hacks have just released the first FCC hack which runs on an Android device and will enable the DJI FPV Drone to operate at full power in a non-FCC region. Scroll down to the "FPV Racer" section in the link below for details. This is chargeable software @ 25 Euros for a lifetime license which covers one drone.

The one downside to this hack is that you will be unable to use the Video Out feature which is only possible via the DJI Fly App, because the moment you open that app it will remove the FCC hack.

Ohh yeah. Finally a 3 inch version. But still doesn’t meet the 250 grams limit. Smile

Marketing strategy. I saw the original video and boy ohh boy the excitement the pilot had at the end of the video. Very stimulating for the people getting into FPV.

Ian (Mad's Tech) put out a good unbiased video on his thoughts over the weekend. I think it's worth a watch for anyone considering buying the DJI FPV Drone.

Sean and Ian who have been exclusively flying camera drones until this thing came along also share some good discussion points of it from a camera drone pilot's point of view.

They all make it clear that none of them really understand who this hybrid drone is actually targeted at or what it is really good for.

All of these people bought the DJI FPV Drone with their own money.
