Motors go crazy!
#1
Hi!!

I'm new to FPV and have problemes with my quad.
I've got the Diatone Mamba H7 Stack.

When I'm arming my motors go crazy! All of them just bounce from max to min.
I've already flown my quad without any problemes yesterday. I crashed into a bush and then stopped flying because a prop was broken. I tried flying today after tuning the RC-Rates for the first time and then my motors went crazy and I complete lost controll over my quad and crashed.
I flew in acromode without airmode on.

I've already checked/tried some points:
  • Motors are spinning correctly
  • Props are installed correctly
  • Gyro works  (I tried the simulation in betaflight)
  • Motors can be controlled by the sliders without any problemes in betaflight
  • I tried if my motors go crazy with and without props
  • I resetted my whole PID-Tab although I just changed the RC-Rate
  • Throttle controll works fine (checked it in Betaflight)
I've noticed, that my motors get hot after just a short time of enabling arming.

I don't know what could be the reason for this behaviour. Is my ESC dead?

Please help!! Smile

That video was too short but did you check the ESC to FC wiring harness for any bent pins or any wires touching and creating a possible unwanted contact or short?

All 4 motors behave weird? Its fairly unusual for all for motors to act bizarre after one crash.

No theres nothing like that. Everything seems fine. I don't think it's the crashs fault. But I can't comfirm that, because I didn't test the quad after the crash. Maybe the edit in the PID tab changed the behaviour. Although an edit in RC Rates has nothing to do with this behaviour, in my opinion.

My FC is on BF Version 4.3.0. I'll try erase FC memory and reflash BF. Maybe that fixes the probleme.

I'll post a longer video with the drone in it later. I made the video short, because I was afraid frying something Sad

When I controll the motors with Betaflight, I have no weird behaviour. Does that mean my ESC is intact and the behaviour has something to do with software configuration?

Do you have any other ideas what could cause this issue?

Try a reflash to check if its a configuration issue.

If all 4 motors spin correctly together then the ESC’s are probably ok but then why individual motors misbehave?

Did you use a multimeter across motor outputs to ensure they are not shorted with each other?

Any screws touching the bottom of the motors through the frame? Or anything too close to the ESC board to create a short?

Hi again✌

I resetted all my BF settings and reflashed my FC. Now my Quad finally works without problems Smile)))

I think changing the RC-Rate in PID-tab caused this issue. Maybe the PID got the wrong values by saving new values in PID-tab. In the video you can see the strong oscillation of the motors.
