ESC on AIO got silent and not spinning motors. Everything else looks fine.
#1
Hi. I got really stuck during my build. Board is SpeedyBee F745 AIO.

At the beginning everything was normal, except ESC beeping sequence was repeated twice for some reason. Motors were spinning OK.

Then sometimes when I connected battery I got no ESC sounds and could not spin motors using BF Configurator anymore. It was every second battery connection. Now its permanently broken.

Board connects and is visible in Betaflight OK. Web based esc-configurator.com works and shows ESCs and allows to flash it.
MOSFETs get very hot in 20 seconds after connecting battery with no load, no motors spinning. I desoldered 3 motors leaving one connected, still, all 4 groups of MOSFETS get hot.

I connect via USB cable to Mac. I was never been able to flash FC using Speedybee App, it asks to connect to FC's Wifi and then nothing happens (iOS).

I tried:
  • Downgrade BF to 4.2.11, the original version.
  • Reflash ESC with BlueJay
  • measured resistance on all motor connectors. No wire-to-wire shorts, no shorts between Batt + and - to any of the motor connectors
Still ESC does not work ... Could anyone have an idea of next troubleshooting steps, please?

Take multimeter in diode mode. Probe the two battery leads. See if there is a short.

I put multimeter in diode mode, with leads in reverse polarity it reads 0.5V, in normal polarity reads rising from 0.5V to 1.5V in about 10sec.

What should be the "# show dma" command output? I saw some have "DSHOT_BITBANG" in there, I have nothing:

# dma show
Currently active DMA:
DMA1 Stream 0: LED_STRIP
DMA1 Stream 1: FREE
DMA1 Stream 2: TIMUP 3
DMA1 Stream 3: FREE
DMA1 Stream 4: FREE
DMA1 Stream 5: FREE
DMA1 Stream 6: FREE
DMA1 Stream 7: FREE
DMA2 Stream 0: ADC
DMA2 Stream 1: FREE
DMA2 Stream 2: FREE
DMA2 Stream 3: FREE
DMA2 Stream 4: FREE
DMA2 Stream 5: TIMUP 1
DMA2 Stream 6: FREE
DMA2 Stream 7: FREE

I got sounds! After cleaning the flux for a third time, I noticed possible 5V and G short. Cleaned it and board started singing Smile) Let me add all motors now!

The diode readings seem OK.

Can you post a dump file?

Quick update. Soldered everything back. Flashed FC using SpeedyBee app. Flashed ESC to Blue Jay. ESC works, motors spinning - good.
But not everything is OK:

1. One motor shows about 15% less RPM in BF Configurator than the other three (bidir Dshot, these three motors were bought separately from the last motor #3). I'll swap them tomorrow to see is is ESC or motor fault.

2. The MOSFETs still getting very warm at idle, one was showing 100 deg.C in BF after 3 minutes of being powered and idle (same Nr 3 motor that shows reduced RPM), but others are quite hot too...

Battery connected 30s ago. Running motors for a second:

Swap a good motor with #3 as you indicated you will do. Let's if the problem will move or stay.

Its the ESC. I swapped motors 1 and 3, still #3 shows reduced RPM and highest temp. I have an open ticket with SpeedyBee, I guess I'll return it. I have Mamba AIO on the way.

Switched SpeedyBee to Mamba MK4 F740 AIO WIFI. Thanks all!
