I had it running before, but all the motors were not in sync. I connected to CleanFlight, removed Battery, used MASTER motor control to max out the motors (anything above 1800 for calibration mode), plugged batter in, and as soon as I hear the beeps, I lower the master to 0. BUT when I try to ease the motors back up, the #2 will "flutter and act as if it wants to start, but never does. No matter how high I spin the others. Ideas? • Posts: 5 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 0 (28-Feb-2016, 02:09 PM)CharmPeddler Wrote: So I have a quad and during setup (esc calibration) the #2 motor (front right) stopped spinning up. I think it was because the ESC could not detect the back EMF generated by the motors, so didn't know it was spinning up. You should check that all connections and solder joints are good. Also increasing min_throttle helped me to solve this issue. I have it set at 1200. • Posts: 14 Threads: 4 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 0 29-Feb-2016, 04:12 PM (This post was last modified: 29-Feb-2016, 05:30 PM by CharmPeddler.) It twitched (and never made a full rotation) across the whole throttle range, top to bottom. I replaced with a used Afro ESC 20A to test and it works SO smooth now. Now all I have to do is replace all the esc's. Its a cheap LHI QAV250. so I'm sure the parts are pretty bottom dollar. • Posts: 1 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 0 01-Mar-2016, 09:28 AM (This post was last modified: 04-Mar-2016, 10:09 PM by ShemSeto.) Can you please share the whole details of the board you are using here? What type of board it is and what are its specifications? Which MCU part it is using for the control? Also i want to know that what is the role of the JTAG here? pcb materials • Posts: 69 Threads: 15 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 5 What ESCs are you using (the chirping ones) Also, what fw: bllheli or afro? Might just be a calibration issue, or some setting not properly configred. I have those Afro 12A ESCs you are using now, they ARE smooth, and thats before the started using Oneshot and stuff. Give us more info on those other ESCs and we might figure this out • Posts: 14 Threads: 4 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 0 01-Mar-2016, 11:27 PM (This post was last modified: 01-Mar-2016, 11:28 PM by CharmPeddler. He few it about 5-6 times and it crapped out on him so I gave him $40 and said I'd be his repair shop on his next one as a trade. On the MCU I believe what your asking is what type of connection is from the RX to the FC? If so I'm using the standard PWM, but ONLY because I cannot figure out how to get the PPM to go through the Flexi-io on the CC3d. once I order the JST-SH plugs i'll be using SBUS through the "Main" port. http://www.amazon.com/LHI-Quadcopter-Con...hi+qav-250 DETAIL: 1 × QAV 250mm Racing Quadcopter Frame (ASIN:B00X38UKNI) 1 × QAV250 Racer Quadrocopter Box (ASIN:B0185GDN36) 1 × FS-T6 Remote Controller & Receiver (ASIN:B016D91CN0) 1 × CC3D Flight Controller (ASIN:B00XVNVUPC) 1 × Li-po power 11.1V 1500mAh 35C 3S Battery& Balance Charger (ASIN:B0185EXK5Y) 4 × MT2204 2300KV brushless Motor (ASIN:B00YA9DCXO) 4 × Simonk 12A ESC (ASIN:B00XBX31WM) 4 × 5030 Plastic Propeller (ASIN:B00Y2IQNU2) 1 × RC Quadcopter ESC Power Distribution Board (ASIN:B00XR55M2G) 4 × RGB 5050 LED Lights Board 7 Color 12V w / DIP Switch (ASIN:B017X92K9Y) • Posts: 391 Threads: 23 Likes Received: 50 in 41 posts Likes Given: 56 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 8 (01-Mar-2016, 11:27 PM)CharmPeddler Wrote: This is where it was purchased from. Those EMAX ESC's generally have trouble syncing on low throttle. What I did while using airmode on 3s was setting min throttle to 1200 - had a bit of unneeded thrust, but it worked smoother - note that You may have to set another value as the ESCs may be callibrated differently. You can also reflash them to blheli to enable oneshot (but not dampened light, they will smoke): EDIT: sorry, wrong video • Posts: 14 Threads: 4 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 0 02-Mar-2016, 02:34 AM (This post was last modified: 02-Mar-2016, 03:22 AM by CharmPeddler.) I've only been in the RC sceen for 2 weeks so I'm not sure what this means, "airmode on 3s" but I think my response should be to tell you that ive used open pilot to "hold" the firmware and then flashed CleanFlight. I did not use CLI to calibrate, I unplugged the battery, used the "master" motor control in the "motor tab" to max out the motor signal, then plughed the battery back in. I guess when the motors see anything over 1800 it pits them in calibrate mode. Once I heard the tones I lowered the signal to very bottom. Also I have not yet flashed an ESC myself. I just have not got to that point in my research yet. I have a few articles saved but no knowledge yet. Any ideas for a crash course? Thanks for the help so far guys! Looks like that video says I need an Arduino? I believe I just read somewhere that CleanFlight can now flash ESC. Can anyone confirm? • Posts: 69 Threads: 15 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 5 02-Mar-2016, 03:54 AM (This post was last modified: 02-Mar-2016, 03:56 AM by orejass. Yes, you can flash without an arduino, but if youre still getting your head around this I would say to just concentrate on flying the quadchopper without much messing around first. Those Afro ESCs I believe they are not flashable unless you have the specific flash tool that plugs onto (yes, on to) the chip. gotta check. I see nothing wrong with the setup, seems quite good. Have you gone through all the basics of setting up cleanflght yet? Seems to me an issue woth min thro/ min command/max command. If you havent yet, follow the cleanflight wiki, its quite clear: https://github.com/cleanflight/cleanflig...Started.md Complete documentation on Cleanflight: https://github.com/cleanflight/cleanflig...aster/docs PainlessRC has a good video playlist on setting up Cleanflight (he uses a Naze32, but basics are the same): FYI: Airmode is a recent setting introduced to cleanflight that was first coded into Betaflight that enables your copter to spin the motors at the minimum setting to be able to run the PID loop when you put your throttle at zero while doing acrobatics. This, in contrast to stopping your motors at zero throttle, gives you superb control and stability to perform maneuvers mid-flip and whatnot, because, well, ummm...its not totally shut off. It feels as if you're, well..floating! HAHAHAHAHAHA Oscar does a great job at explaining it: http://blog.oscarliang.net/betaflight-airmode/ Holler if you need anything else (02-Mar-2016, 12:09 AM)Konrad Stepanajtys Wrote: Those EMAX ESC's generally have trouble syncing on low throttle. I have not. The video shows what I've done. Just switched out the ESC as a test and now the motor spins perfect, no jitter, no rattle. Better than when they were new. From that, I gathered that the ESC was the issue. Wether it can be fixed is beyond my knowledge. And ya I've been reading all of this forum, rcgroup, Oscar's, and SO many youtube videos.
