i beleive the gemfan 4023 isnt stiff enough.

Thanks -- I will look for those props.  The Gemfan 4023s didn't hold up very well when I crashed into the bushes a couple of times.

I have a few sets of DAL 5040 2-blade props that I think I'll try, as well.

Gemfan 4032 is a lot more robust with crashes and you will get more thrust.. 4023 is more for light weight 4" or Toothpick 4". It is louder probably from high rpm trying to lug the 5" Marmotte with DJi Air Unit.

Ah, I wasn't aware of the Gemfan 4032.  From the specs I see what you mean.  The 4032 weighs >50% more than the 4023.  I'll add the 4032 to my list of props to order.  The only other 4" props I have are the HQProp 4x4.3x3 V1S. I haven't tried them yet, but they weigh just slightly more than the Gemfan 4023, so they're probably not very robust.

HQ 4x4.3x3 V1S is definitely more hardy than the GF 4023, especially the tip. I have used these older  HQ props on a Impulserc MicroAlien 4" as there weren't many other 4" prop around last year.  Gemfan Windancer 4032 is thick /chunky and often survives multiple crashes on my  Gecko 4"  HD before I replaced them.

I tried the DAL 5040 2-blade props today.  They worked pretty well for me and were somewhat quieter.  They didn't hold up well at all, though.  This is from two rather gentle crashes into the bushes:

I bought the props 2½ years ago, so maybe they've gotten brittle from age.

With Marmotte mine has TOA 2306.5 1750 and using 6S on my first drone made it too touchy.

I used betaflight and 4S to soften up throttle but using transmitter seemed to be more adjustable and I could try 3 different settings using a switch while flying.

Drain man has a video showing how to cap throttle using transmitter.

My 3" Whirligig build is finished.  AUW is 293 grams with an 850 mAh 4S battery.  The test hover worked fine.  We're entering a week of stormy weather here, so I don't know when I'll get to make a proper maiden flight.  I'll post a full build log soon.

Just FYI. You CAN buy different height standoffs/columns. It is allowed.

In extreme case, mount the DJI Air/Vista *wherever* with zipties. Not pretty, but works.

I have 2mm standoff columns in lengths from 5mm to 30mm; with some discretionary "stacking" you can get even beyond that.
