Mod for IRX6 Multiprotocol to use Transmitter's power supply
#1
iRangeX IRX6 enables Flysky Transmitters to work with NRF24L01  protocol, which gives us support for a lot of different quads. A nice thread is started by buzzjob here:

IRX6 Multiprotocol TX Module for Flysky FS-i6 i6x Transmitter Compatibility List
Even though buzzjob mentiones it does not work with FS-i6S, this Module works fine with Flysky FS-i6S

However IRX6 by default need  external battery, and this setup made it a bit less 'elegant' and easier to disconnect during the flight. There is, at least in my version, a mod to make the IRX6 use Transmitter's power supply.

To do so, simply connect those two pads.

I decided to give it a try and bridge those two pads together, not the cleanest solder, but it does the job

Last step was to de-solder the cables, after testing the solution. Works like a charm with my FS-i6S:

Looks nicer, easier to use, with no need to remember about additional battery Smile

Thanks for the tutorial . I have the same radio and the irx6 module however when I plug in the module and switch on the transmitter no lights appear on the irx6 module. I've tried all-sorts but it doesn't seem to have any life in it. Is it completely dead or could it be fixed? It was originally working with the battery but since I tried the tx5v it seems to not work without the battery or with the battery. I was wondering if any settings needed to be changed on the transmitter to get it working.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I have the same transmitter and same iRangeX IRX6 multi protocol tx, but for some odd reason it won't connect to my e011 toy drone or my beta65s lite, now I've tried a combination of stick move to get it to work but nothing, even flashed firmware on drones plus I've check the "iRangeX IRX6" with a multimeter and there is power to it.

What changes did you have to make for the iRangeX IRX6 work on this transmitter ?

Gday players, did you make a new model in your transmitter and also switch that new model to ppm, maybe one last thing to look at is the channel mapping of its not in the correct order it won't work either...AETR is the way it's gotta be, really hope this helps a Lil, cheers guys

Can you do this on Turnigy i6 if you solder black wire direct to red wire on battery?
