Mobula 6 and Commando 8 binding |
19-Jan-2023, 12:57 PM Hello, I have a mobula 6 frsky and I can't seem to get it to bind with my iflight commando 8. I am brand new to the fpv world and any help would be appreciated. 19-Jan-2023, 07:26 PM Looking at the iFlight page for the Commando 8, it doesn't say it comes in a D8/D16 variant, only ELRS. Is the Commando 8 you have an ELRS model? If so, it won't bind. FrSky and ELRS are completely different protocols. Any recommendations on a radio 19-Jan-2023, 10:42 PM I do have the elrs version however I thought I was able to change it to frsky. Sorry this is all very new, a bit overwhelming. 19-Jan-2023, 11:59 PM No, send the Mobula back and get an ELRS version, if you can. ELRS is far superior to FrSky D8. But if you can't send the Mobula back. I would send the Commando back and get a Jumper T-Lite 2 or T-Pro 4-in-1. It looks the same as the Commando, should easily perform as well and with the 4-in-1 module you get support for a load of different protocols including D8 and D16. https://www.jumper-rc.com/products/transmitters/t-pro/ or https://www.jumper-rc.com/products/transmitters/t-lite/ You need the one with the JP4-in-1 module. Alternatively Radiomaster do a bunch of different radios in various price ranges. From the T8 Lite that only does D8 and D16 but costs $40 (I actually have one for flying D8 whoops and for sims use), through to ugly coloured TX16s that will set you back almost as much as a set of DJI goggles ($400). You will eventually probably own two radios. One that does multiprotocol (4-in-1) and one that does ELRS or Crossfire. Try Not, Do or Do Not - Yoda 20-Jan-2023, 01:00 AM When the iFlight Commando 8 transmitter was first publicised, it was spec'd to have two internal modules - a CC2500 multi-protocol module which supports the FrSky protocol, and an ExpressLRS module. However, when the Commando 8 eventually launched it only came with an internal ExpressLRS so it seems that iFlight dropped the idea of it also having a CC2500 internal module. There are still articles out there stating that the Commando 8 supports both ELRS and CC2500 protocols, so maybe that is where the confusion came from and/or why you thought it supported the FrSky protocol. 20-Jan-2023, 01:41 AM If you intend to buy more quads down the line, i'd keep it and get a cheap T8 Lite or similar for flying this whoop. ELRS is pretty much the future, where as FrSky D8 is pretty much the past. Try Not, Do or Do Not - Yoda 20-Jan-2023, 02:53 AM Okay thank you so much for all the info. I will contact the vendor I purchased the mobula from and see if I can get the elrs version. |
