Matek CTR wiring to Dalrc Engine ESC + build w pics
#1
Hi All,

I have a few bnf quads I’ve learned to fly, solder, and rebuild however this will be my first build from scratch.  I want to do this build right and wondered if you could offer any advice. I’m unsure how I should wire my esc to my FC as I want to ensure I’m not limited to the output of a few pads as detailed in the matek wiring instructions.  Oscar Liang has mentioned a possible alternative and wondered if he or any others have found a good solution.

Parts list below:

Armattan rooster
Matek f405 ctr FC
Dalrc 40a 4-n-1 blheli 32bit ESC
12 gauge power leads
2306 2450kv hypetrain motors
Foxeer predator mini
Tbs unify pro hv
Tbs triumph to unify
Fatshark hd3
Laforge diversity v4
Ibc mad mushroom antenna
Xair 5.8 directional antenna
Frsky r-xsr receiver
Thunder power adrenaline 4s 1300 100c
Taranis x9d plus
M9 hall gimbals
GoPro session 5
GoPro 2.5 mm fpv Lens to predator
HAKKO FX-888D

Ive looked around YouTube and forums but haven’t seen much info out there. However that’s understandable as the parts are fairly new to market.  I really apprecIte any help you can offer as I stare in agony at all the parts just screaming to fly!

Thank you for your time and help,

Mark

Matek website has great diagram on how to wire up everything. Your FC has a great large pad so you can wire the power to your 4-in-1. I would wired it that way. Simple! If you want more complex wiring, you can check out Joshua Bardwell manuel for his FC. There is a section for wiring to 4-in-1, and it will also applies to yours.

The Dalrc ESC has a port that comes out with all the signal wires. You just have to figure out which wire from the Dalrc that is signal 1, 2, 3 and 4 and solder to the corresponding signal pad on the Matek. If you draw a diagram, one of us and verify whether it is correct or not.

This should do it Smile
You can then use the current sensor on the FC.

Haha yea I saw that (jb video) and it threw me through a loop! Wiring straight to the sensor seems dangerous, but what do I know.

Thank you so much for all of your help! Thank you for responding Oscar!!

Wiring to current shunt is fine. It is just a big resistor.

Make sure you post some pics of your build, you're using all nice components

I found 12 gauge too thick. Difficult to plug into lipo due to not being as flexible. 14 gauge is good enough.

Don't forget the 60/40 or 63/37 solder. Que Oscar link.

Haha of course, will do RENOV8R!  Here are few to start:

To Oscars recommendation on his site, I went with 63/37 kester solder, and was actually having issues with the 12 gauge as it was too stiff as you said voodoo.  Thank you for the advice!!

Thanks again everyone!

Hi all,

I’m not sure what to do with VCC and Current wires from esc. I assume current goes to the current pad on the FC, but am unsure if VCC is necessary?  What should I do?

You don't have to do anything. You don't need them.

Clean soldering. Heat shrink is a bit much, but who am I to judge.
I assume you have the FC mounted that way just for photos. If you plan to keep it that way, don't forget to change your orientation in Betaflight Configurator.

Thank you voodoo! Yea just to solder, here’s where I am now.  Just need to solder both power leads and the r-xsr and I’m ready to go.
