LiteRadio 3 with Crossfire Module Problem
#1
Hi guys!

I'm sorry to bother you but I need your help solving a problem with my LiteRadio 3 from BetaFPV and TBS Crossfire Nano Tx module.

I bought an old drone with a MAMBAF722 flight controller (BetaFlight v3.5.5 since the USB port is busted and I only have access to the BetaFlight Configurator using the Speedybee app by Bluetooth), with a TBS Nano Rx (installed on UART6). When I bought the drone, it flew in front of me with a Radiomaster TX16S and a Crossfire Module.

Since I had a BetaFPV LiteRadio 3, I bought a TBS Crossfire Nano TX module and configured it using the TBS Agent Desktop (the binding process went smoothly, it connected to the Rx and updated it to the latest firmware). Configured the tabs regarding the Tx and Rx.
Went to the BetaFPV Configurator and enable External TX module with Crossfire protocol.
It all seemed to be fine, since I had the green light on the Tx module and Rx.
The problem is that, in Betaflight, I don't have any stick input from the radio... And it shows the Arming Disable Flag: "No valid receiver signal is detected."
I'm new to FPV and don't know how to solve this problem... Is the radio not communicating with the Tx Module? Don't know... Do I have to buy a new radio?

Thanks a lot in advance!

did you make a new model? did you configure channels and inputs on the transmitter?

Since the LiteRadio 3 doesn't have a screen, the radio configuration is done using the "BetaFPV Configurator".
The only thing I can change is which RF to use (internal or external). I think there are no models to change  Sad
The channels and inputs seem OK in the BetaFPV Configurator. But on BetaFlight I get nothing...

Hi, have you found the problem? I have the same problem with my Elrs module. Thanks

The problem is the Literadio. There have been a handful of reports by people that they couldn't get nano modules to work with Literadio's, mostly due to them using the BetaFPV software and not OpenTX or EdgeTX. Solution is to accept the Literadio is basic radio for learning on. To use advanced functionality requires a more advanced radio.

So if you are going to TBS or ELRS, upgrade your Radio. Anything running EdgeTX or OpenTX will suffice. So cheaper options would be Jumper T-Lite v2 or T-Pro v2, slightly more expensive option would be the Radiomaster Zorro. Those should work happily for what you want.

Hi guys! I know this thread was started a Westeros winter ago .. one comment claimed it could not be done: TBS Crossfire Nano TX module, working on a BetaFPV LiteRadio 3. Did any of YOU guys actually find a solution or workaround? Because, SOMEONE apparently did - he's got the video to "prove" it.... but if you have a look at that video's latest comments, you'll see my pleas for him to actually EXPLAIN how he did it... so far, no response. :/

If you want to use and external module on the BetaFPV LiteRadio 3 you need to connect it to your computer with a USB cable and then run up the BetaFPV Configurator. You then need to switch off the internal module and switch on the external module with the external module protocol set to "CRSF". Then the LiteRadio 3 will be talk to the Crossfire module. If you do this you won't be able to use the internal module FrSky protocols until you use BetaFPV Configurator to switch back to the internal module again, so it's not as convenient as having a screen on the transmitter and selectable / configurable models, but it is a budget radio so I guess you can't expect much more. At least you can actually use an external module and configure the protocol type, even if you do have to use a computer and BetaFPV Configurator to do that.

Have a watch of the video below from time position 6:51 which shows you what you need to do in BetaFPV Configurator to get the LiteRadio 3 to talk to an external ExpressLRS or Crossfire module (both make use of the CRSF protocol).

To bind the Crossfire module to a Crossfire receiver you will have to use the manual method of pressing the button on the back of the module. Because the LiteRadio 3 doesn't run OpenTX or EdgeTX and has no screen, there is no way to run the TBS Agent Lite LUA script on the transmitter to configure the Crossfire module settings (frequency, power output etc.) so to configure any of those things you will need to connect the Crossfire module to your computer via a USB cable and then connect to it from TBS Agent Web using a Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome web browser. You can then use TBS Agent Web to configure any settings on the Crossfire module.
