It is lot of fun and I already ordered my Flysky FS-i6 transmitter planning to hook it into pc and progressing further in the simulator. In the meantime, I want to juice as much experience as I can from the syma, but I am starting to feel as I am reaching limits of the drone. I had few 1h sessions of LoS flying (as the bundled wifi camera is total garbage) and now the flight seems kinda slow (on the so called high mode) and not so interesting, as I can do some bank turns but I feel like the drone doesnt offer much more in the acrobatics department (not suprising). But maybe I am just missing guiding hand that would show me some area completely unfamiliar to me that I still can learn even on the toy drone. Do you have any suggestion what I could focus on? Or maybe it is somehow possible to physically disable autolevel on the board and go bit wilder with it? Any other tips? Thanks for any suggestions • Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 27-Apr-2017, 04:47 PM (This post was last modified: 27-Apr-2017, 05:10 PM by Drone0fPrey.) I too was in a similar position. Wanting more from from the toys that helped me learn. Syma X5C was my first I would suggest an Eachine H8mini hacked with Silverxxx's firmware for a full acro toy quad under $20US. ($13-14 for the H8mini and $5-6 for the ST-link to flash it with) Its a micro but has some snap to it, enough to fly outside on calmer days, even comparable to the Symas in the wind. Here is a tutorial done by TomBDbad from our forums. Check out RCgroups for the original post by Silverxxx. Can also use your own Tx with a 4in1 module to control it and get rid of the tiny toy Tx. As well as add a micro AIO FPV cam/VTx to fly it FPV once you get a set of goggles I even went as far on my syma to change out the FC for another toy FC that had a more agressive angle in high rate. Here is my Syma hack if you'd like. (The sooner you get used to acro vs angle mode the better too imho. Truely gives YOU the controls) Posts: 17 Threads: 3 Likes Received: 15 in 5 posts Likes Given: 15 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 0 27-Apr-2017, 05:51 PM (This post was last modified: 27-Apr-2017, 05:59 PM by Roobaiz.) Hey, thanks for reply! The thing is I dont want to invest more into the toy/micro section and rather start assembling some beginner 210 mini quad from scratch (that can last me for while) to learn all the various component and wiring stuff that goes into the hobby. I have some experience with soldering, so I am not that afraid to dive in. Before I was thinking about pimping the syma with three blade props they have on my local rc store, but it will be probably better to put the money into FC board or some other part. Thanks for the links anyway, I will check them. • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 (27-Apr-2017, 05:51 PM)Roobaiz Wrote: Before I was thinking about pimping the syma with three blade props they have on my local rc store, but it will be probably better to put the money into FC board or some other part. A much better idea. Putting more aggressive props on a brushed motor will just make it wear out faster. Just an FYI, the props for the H8 mini are about half the price of the 4045 props you'd be using on a 210, and I'd expect you'll be going through a few!? I'm not saying don't do it but the H8 is very resilient, light enough to fly indoors without endangering anyone too much, and even without the acro mode firmware (which is a necessity IMO) it really is fast! The board can drive 7 and 8mm brushed motors there are hacks to drive brushless motor on youtube too! You can add FPV and even apparently get telemetry! Flashing the firmware is a nightmare but I have subscribed to my how-to so I shouldn't be long to provide assistance if I can. Lol Personally I was not impressed with the tri-blades (couldnt seem to find a tough balanced set) that was a while ago though. And definitely keep an eye on your motor temps. Just the increased pitched 2 blade props I use really heat the motors and voltage sag with the common 500-600mah 25c lipos is rough. That was at least my experience. • Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 (27-Apr-2017, 07:07 PM)Tom BD Bad Wrote: Just an FYI, the props for the H8 mini are about half the price of the 4045 props you'd be using on a 210, and I'd expect you'll be going through a few!? This is of topic, but speaking of props, I got 2 sets of Dal cyclone 5046 crystal red a month ago and put them on two quads and I have not managed to kill even one of them! They cut through ninja branches, bushes flowers and whatever get in their way! They are ridiculously though! It must be the best beginner prop in terms of durability Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 Those transparent Cyclones are amazing props. • Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 (27-Apr-2017, 11:16 PM)unseen Wrote: Those transparent Cyclones are amazing props. I also have some pink (non transparent) cyclones 5045 the old version, but they occasionally broke at the hub or a piece of the blade. They are clearly not as durable as the transparent ones. They should rename the transparent props to bushy-cutters Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 (27-Apr-2017, 11:33 PM)oyvinla Wrote: I also have some pink (non transparent) cyclones 5045 the old version, but they occasionally broke at the hub or a piece of the blade. But then we would really be off topic |
